3. Assessment Evidence:
The students will give an oral presentation using the process of elevator pitching. Students
will also submit their project ideas on sheet of paper so that I can evaluate their ideas and
give them feedback.
4. Opening Hook:
The students will be shown the opening scene to Jobs the movie. As it portrays a well executed
pitch for the unveiling of the iPod. YouTube: Steve Jobs: introduce the iPod Ashton Kutcher
5. Input:
Modeling:
Instructional Strategies: The students will be shown the opening scene to Jobs the movie which
will be based on "Elevator Pitching". Thus allowing us to see to communicate on what was seen
and how it can be beneficial.
Student Activities: The class will then be broken up in to groups of 4 or less so they can
collaborate amongst each other. Creating an item of their choosing they will then plan out the
route of which they plan to pitch their ideas. It will be important that the students utilize the 5
W's taking a creative approach to pitch their idea. Once class is complete and we have finished
presentations we will move on to the next major assignment. This is the students true
assessment because it will be individually based. For this project student will use their creativity
to come up with a new product of various categories coming up with the full layout/ back
grounding information which will lead to their in class presentation by using the elevator pitch.
6. Materials / Resources:
Materials: Pencil/paper.
Resources: Classroom computers, Internet access, Prezi/ PowerPoint.
7. Grouping Patterns:
The students will be working with their peers for in the in class portion of the assignment, but
for the major project they will work individually to complete their understanding and
knowledge of Elevator pitching.
8. Ending, Summary / Reflection:
The students will be knowledgeable of the advantages and disadvantages when utilizing an
Elevator pitch. Thus allowing students to grasp a better understanding of an effective way of
pitching themselves along with their projects.
