About the Client

-Client is a African American/ White female in
the 1st grade at Pembroke Elementary School
-She is the fourth child of eight
-She has two older siblings at the Elementary
School
-She is shy and quite
-Hobbies include playing with her siblings,
riding the motorcycle and helping mama
around the house

Problem Statement
- Student has been wanting to stay at home
with mom and the four youngest children
- Recently she has brought physical harm to
herself when she is brought to school
- Mother then has to come back to school
and calm child down and then take her
home

Resources
- Mental Health
- Juvenile Services

Strengths and Limitations

- The child is very smart when effort is
shown
- The child has a great relationship with her
siblings- However, the relationship with the mother
and father is not as strong
- Does not care about doing work at school

Assessment Goals and Interventions

- The goal of this assessment is to encourage
the child to want to stay in school and get
her education (within 2 weeks)
- Also, to prevent her mother from receiving
a criminal summons (within 2 weeks)
- Keeping the child safe in the school
environment (starting immediately)
- The intervention is to show the child that
what she does can effect her mother and
her education

Q: What are some biases you had going into the

interview?
A: This child will not understand me and she will
not talk to me because she is so quite
Q: What are some value differences btwn you and
the client?
A: I value education and always strived to do the
best work I could, however the client does not seem
to care that she is putting her education at risk
Q: What events or life experiences have shaped
them into the person they are?
A: The fact that she has so many siblings and not a
stable family environment has shaped her to not be
that open with a person because they might walk
out on her like the others

Q: What is the staff recommendation about the

diagnosis, interventions or treatment?
A: They believe that because she is putting her safety
in jeopardy that she should be sent home with the
mother or that the mother could try to keep her in the
classroom
Q: What does research say on their
diagnosis/problem/treatment?
A: Legally in the school system we have to keep a
child in school until they are 16, but the child is
putting herself and others at risk, therefore the child is
to be suspended everyday that she does not
cooperate in the classroom
Q: What changes do you recommend for the agency
or service?
