Week 13
The topic for week #13 is Research Methods. The student will be able to define research
question/s and hypotheses. They will be able to analyze research methods and administer a miniquestionnaire with their partners. This course is offered in the second year of an undergraduate
class in the department of Liberal Arts and Science at George Brown. The course last week
focused on reliability, validity, sampling, and inductive and deductive methods. The next class
will focus on how to analyze data (collected by students in the previous class). They will use the
software named Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyze data. In addition,
they will be able to interpret data. By the end of this semester, students will be able to create their
own survey, collect data, analyze it, and prepare a research paper, which is due on 12 December
by midnight. Students do not require any accommodations for this lesson. However, all videos
will be captioned and materials will be also posted on BB for students access before and after
the class.

MOTIVATION:
Activity # 1
First I will ask, why do we do research? I will let them write
down two things that come to their mind (I will provide them
different color cards to write down their answers)
Second, I will ask them to find a partner who has the same color
card that they have, and share the information with their partners.
Then, they will report back to a larger group. I will write down
their answerson a white board.
I will show them the answers for Why do we do research? and
make a point of connecting it to the students answers that they
shared.
