Inquiry Proposal Assignment
For my inquiry project, I chose to write about a topic that is near and
dear to my heart. Divorce. Being a child of divorced parents, this is a topic I
am both familiar with and not familiar with at all. I am familiar with this topic
because I have experienced divorce through my parents. It is also unfamiliar
in the sense that I have never researched laws of divorce, or the affects it
has on all of those involved. I have never really spoken to my parents about
their divorce or their feelings about divorce in general, so I used this injury
project to do so.
In this essay, I want to explore the effects of divorce on the married
couple, as well as on their children. This is important to me because I think
divorce is a very serious legal commitment and I want people to see the long
term effects of divorce. Through my research on
http://www.divorcesource.com, I have found that divorce can cause
loneliness, depression, financial and emotional stress, along with many other
negative effects.
I also wanted to get some more insight from those who are divorced
and how they felt about their decision. I think it is important to see both
sides of a story, and I hoped that by putting examples from those who have

experienced this could help readers understand different situations and why
the decision for divorce was made. For this, I turned to my parents as well as
step-parents for their input. I also used exampled from omgchronicals to read
other opinions on the topic. I envision my paper being a variety of research,
statistics, opinions, and most importantly, a resemblance of my life growing
up.
