Mr. President, members of this August body, people in the gallery, to all
davaoeos, friends, ladies and gentlemen, Good Morning!
I rise today as a matter of privilege.
Before anything else, I would like to greet everyone a Happy New Year!
Hinaot unta na mas malipayon pa ning 2015 para sa atong tanan.
Our City is a fast developing one.
For this year, we foresee more
entrepreneurs who will come and invest here. Of course, these are welcome
endeavors regardless of the magnitude.
However, we also have to prepare for the consequences of these
developments. One such consequence is the volume of people who will be
commuting within the City. The thing is, even now, there are still areas that
not serviced by public utility vehicles. We must ensure that service of public
transport should reach these areas.
With this, Mr. President, I would like to pass a Resolution urging the Land
Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to open new jeepney
routes franchise for areas which will be identified to be not yet serviced by
public utility vehicles such as jeepneys and mega buses.

Moreover, Pursuant to Sections 447 (3) (VI) and 458 (a) (3) (VI) of the Local
Government Code, Municipalities and Cities are granted to have power over

tricycles to regulate their operation and to grant franchises for the operation
thereof within their respective territorial jurisdictions.
