I. Objectives:

The children will develop cooperation skills by interacting with peers in a


learning game activity.

II. Materials:

Hat from Cat in the hat


Soft small balls

III. Procedure:
A. Motivation
1. I will show the children the visual of the hat and the balls.
2. I will ask them to guess what they think they are going to be doing.
3. I will instruct the children to join me in playing the game of cat in the
hat toss game.
B. Steps
1. I will show the children the visual of the hat and the balls and ask them to
guess what they think they are going to be doing.
2. I will instruct the children to join me in playing the game of cat in the hat
toss game.
3. I will explain to the children that they have to toss the ball into the hat.
4. I will demonstrate how to toss the ball.
5. I will have each child take turns tossing the balls into the hat.

6. While the children are tossing the balls into the hat, I will have them count
with me how many balls are thrown in the hat.
7. I will have the children take all the balls out and have them count with my
how many balls there are total.
IV. Conclusion:
I will have the children continue the game until they get ready to move on
to the next activity.
V. Transition:
I will have the children hop like the balls did into the hat to their next area
or activity.
VI. Follow-Up Activities/Learning Centers:
1. Place Dr. Seuss books in the language area for children to look at.
2. Place cat in the hat, hat in the math area with balls for the children to use.
3. Place balls in the sensory table in water for the children to play with.
