Atmospheric dispersion modeling of pollutants from DG
sets is carried out using the USEPA
approved air quality model ISCST3. Hourly meteorological data as monitored at site is used for impact assessment study. Mixing height data are taken from publication of IMD Atlas of Hourly Mixing Height in India, 2008. 2 DG set ,one of 500 KVA, and second DG set of 380KVA will be provided for back up electricity supply during power failure. This will cause emission of PM, SO2, NOx and CO. However, since the D.G. sets will be operational only during power failure and low sulphur diesel will be used, therefore, pollutants incremental load in the ambient air environment will be expected to be minimal. The GLC is predicted on the impact zone of 2 km x 2km at grid spacing 100x100m. The predicted GLCs of PM10, CO and SO2 are found insignificant. Based on the observed meteorological condition, the 24hours average maximum predicted GLC of NOx is to be 10.46 g/m3 and to be occurred at (800,0) m from the DG sets location. An adequate stack height of D.G. Sets will be provided as per the stipulated guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to facilitate proper dispersion of exhaust gases as given below considering height of the building.
