Analysis of the Elizabethan Era and the 1960s
The Reinisance brought forth new ideas that gave life to important things we have today
like a printer and books. The 1960s did similar things. It was the era my parents grew up in and
the ideas my parents believed. It also gave the music my parents listen to even to this day. Their
ideas molded our world and gave way to some new revolutionary ideas.
The Elizabethan Age was the time of the Reinisance. New ideas occurred daily. The first
self-portraits and plays that remain classics and continue to be seen to this day. Shakespeare was
one of the many people who influenced the society and went down in history for it. He wrote
many plays like The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and A Midsummers
Night Dream. These plays showed many real life instances for their time period. During this
time, there was also many other things that happened. For example, there was the Protestant
Reformation and the time of Kings and Queens. The time of new ideas was everywhere in this
time and the inventions and the work of the Renaissance changed our world.
The 1960s was an interesting time period. It was a time of revolution. This era was a
time of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Times such as Woodstock and the Civil Rights Movement
gave way to radical ideas. This also meant that this era was a time of peace, hippies, and the
Vietnam War. Peoples radical beliefs often meant hurt for the soldiers who so proudly defended
our country during the threat of communism. This lead to many peace rallies and many forms of

art that called for a change. The ideas people gave have shown that sometimes radicalism and
standing out helps identify social issues.
What makes the 60s and the Elizabethan Era so similar is the revolutionary ideas that
sparked the world. The Elizabethan Era gave us new ideas and so did the 1960s. Their
differences, however, are how their ideas effected those around them. In the Elizabethan Era, the
new advances gave way to new ideas and beliefs, such as a new religion. The 60s opened up a
different philosophy of individual freedom and peace. Their similarities and differences define
each era as they are, and make them unique.
Though the Elizabethan Era and the 1960s were totally different in style and idea, they
have many similarities. The people of the eras gave a type of revolution that changed the world.
These radical ideas included (in chronological order) medicine, reading, arts, music, dancing,
and protests. As we move on in the world, we have a chance to change it. How could we change
our world in a radical way as these eras did?
