Overall, I was pleased with the assessment results. I taught this lesson during
the last class on the last day of school before spring break. I actually thought that I
would have had more students score an unsatisfactory under the performance
etiquette column. It can be a difficult task for students to be quiet and attentive
while listening to each person play. Out of 18 students, only 3 received an X for
unsatisfactory behavior during the students performances. For the 90% +
percentile, 2 out of 18 students received a mark for less than 90% accuracy in
correct tempo/beat. My goal was for everyone to at least score a 90%, but these two
students showed no signs of a steady beat in their improvisations. As for the group
scoring during the interactive game, the students met the objective accurateness by
correctly identifying 5 out of the 6 instruments.

Individuals:

I chose to analyze three individual students during this lesson: Student 10

low performer, student 17-average performer, and student 1-high performer.

Student 10 did not actively engage in the pre-assessment and during-

assessment discussions. This student scored less than 90% in correct tempo/beat
and received an unsatisfactory in proper performance etiquette. Even though the
student scored under the desired percentile for tempo/beat, this student did engage
in the group activity and participated during the improvisation portion of the class.
However, this student had to be called down a few times for talking or being
disruptive while other students were playing.

Student 17 is an example of an average student. This student received a

check for the correct answer during the group activity, scored at 90% or greater on
tempo/beat, but did not receive a satisfactory rating under performance decorum.
The student was very engaged and bright, but was distracted during the
performances. This is the area I would expect the average student to struggle, but it
can be done. Most everyone in the class respected their fellow students when
performing.

Student 1 did an outstanding job in all areas of assessment. This student

actively participated and gave answers during the pre and during assessments as
well as met all of the desired results of the group activity, scored 90% or better on
correct tempo/beat, and also received a satisfactory in performance etiquette.
