Scholarship Newsletter

May 2015

Read the description for each scholarship carefully. Some applications are
available online and others are in the Scholarship Drawer which is located
in the School Counseling lobby.

Be aware of all deadlines!! If a transcript and/or letter of recommendation


are required to accompany a scholarship application, the request for the
transcript/letter must be into school counseling 10 days in advance of the
deadline.

JR Tucker PTSA Scholarship: Students who are members of the senior class, have a 3.0 GPA
or above, are members of the PTSA, and have rendered service to others, school, and
community are eligible to apply. Scholarship awards are between $150-$500. Applications are
in the scholarship drawer and due to Mrs. Smith by 4pm on April 30, 2105.
Virginia Blood Services Scholarship: Two scholarships in the amount of $1125 will be
awarded to students who have completed community service and have a 3.0 GPA or above.
Applications are in the scholarship drawer and due to Mrs. Smith by 4pm on April 30, 2105.
Westhampton Lodge No. 32 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Scholarship: This is a
$1000 scholarship. Applicants will be judged on merit and financial need. Financial aid forms
may be obtained from the applicants university/college. Applications and supporting documents
are due April 30, 2015.
The Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship: Students who are US Citizens or Residents,
have a 2.0 GPA or higher, and can provide evidence of enrollment in a post-secondary institution
are eligible to apply. Applications are available at

2015.
The Manuel Deese Scholarship: This scholarship is open to African American seniors who
plan to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college and will major in a field that leads to a career in public
administration. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Applications are available at

The Richmond Chapter of CHUMS Scholarship: This is a $1000 scholarship. Applicants
must be African American and have a 3.0 GPA of above. Applications are in the scholarship
drawer and due April 30, 2015.
The Borgny Durrette Scholarship of the Windsor Club of Elko: This is a $1500
scholarship. Applicants will be measured on their academic achievement, extracurricular
activities, special awards, essay, and additional information. Applications are in the scholarship
drawer and due April 30, 2015.
Amanda C. Brady Foundation for Youth Scholarship: This is a $2000 scholarship.
Applicants should be high school athletes and applications are in the scholarship drawer.
Applications and supporting materials are due May 1, 2015.
Kids Chance Scholarship: This scholarship is for a student whose parent or parents have been
adversely impacted by a work-related injury. Applications and instructions can be found at
www.kidschanceva.org Applications are due May 1, 2015.

Maude E. Wallace Scholarship: This is a $1000 scholarship for a senior who is a US Citizen,
resident of VA, planning to attend an accredited college/university, and can demonstrate a
financial need. Applications are in the scholarship drawer and due May 1, 2015.
Ella G. Agnew Scholarship: This is a $1000 scholarship for a senior who is a US Citizen,
resident of VA, has plans to enter a nursing career or some field related to the medical
profession, will attend a college/training program in VA, and be in need of financial assistance.
Applications are in the scholarship drawer and due May 1, 2015.
The Laurie McNeice Scholarship: Students who attended Twin Hickory Elementary for at
least one school year and plan to enter the field of education are eligible to apply for this $500
scholarship. Applications are available in the scholarship drawer and due May 1, 2015.
Henrico Farm Bureau Scholarship: Students who are going to attend college in Virginia are
eligible to apply. This is a $750 scholarship that is renewable for up to 4 years. Applications are
available in the scholarship drawer and due May 1, 2015.
Kiwanis Club of Greater Richmond Scholarship: This is a $1250 scholarship that is
renewable for us to four years. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater, plan to attend a 4
year university or college in the fall of 2015, have a financial need, and have been involved in
community or school activities. Applications are in the scholarship drawer and due May 15,
2015.
Joel Booth Memorial Scholarship: This is a $500 scholarship for a student who was a
member of the Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association for a minimum of 3 years. Applications and
instructions are in the scholarship drawer and due May 15, 2015.
Mission Creek Orthodontics Scholarship: This is a $500 scholarship. Information and the

Suntrusts Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes: Two scholarships of $500 each will be
awarded to entrants of this scholarship sweepstakes. Winners are chosen at random and GPA is
not a factor. To submit information, go to

Virginia Community Leader Scholarship: This scholarship is for $500 and applicants are
judged based on the their overall academics and community service. Applications are available
at http://www.scholarshipsharing.org/#!student-scholars/c1g8e and due May 30, 2015.
Virginia Get Creative Scholarship: Applicants must be creative and able to help redesign the
Scholarship Sharing website. Applications and information are available at

2015.
Dominion Diversity Scholarship Program: Students who have a 3.0 GPA or above, will
attend a 2-year or 4-year college in the fall of 2015, and can commit to a 10-12 week paid
internship during the summer of 2016 are eligible to apply. Additional information and

Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship: Students who have played sports are eligible to apply
for this scholarship. Applications are available at

Global Lift Equipment Scholarship: Students with a 2.5 GPA and plan to attend college in the
US or Canada in the fall of 2015 may apply. Applications and instructions are available at

National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY)
Scholarship: A minimum of two students will receive $2000 scholarships. Students who have
experienced homelessness during their academic careers are eligible to apply. Applications and

Lifestyle Dentistry Scholarship: This is a $500 scholarship for a student with a 2.5 GPA or
above and is a resident of the US or Canada. Applications and instructions can be found at
