The Climbing Company Mount Araplies National Park

This is a commercial operation because the company sells the

environment as a commodity to recreationists that want to have outdoor
experiences.
1.

The Climbing Company run outdoor operations on and around the rock
formations in the Arapiles National Park.
2.

This venue is perceived as an adversary; a challenge to test yourself on.

The rock-climbing aspect represents the location as a gymnasium where you can
stay healthy and improve yourself.
3.

The Climbing Company interacts with the environment

through organised rock-climbing camps and educating people with safety/rescue
lessons for rock-climbing and abseiling.

a.

b.

People will want to seize the opportunity to challenge themselves on a

variety of different rock-climbing grades from beginner to advanced
faces.
The potential for injury may invoke fear in some people, turning them
off the environment and thus reducing participation rates.

Rock-climbing will gradually erode the rock faces of Mount Arapiles, at

even faster rate with The Climbing Company doing school based operations with
far greater user numbers. This erosion will cause the uniquely shaped mountain
faces to flatten out and become dull.
6.

Environmental impact could be reduced by running climbs over many

faces so one spot cant be quickly worn down. Also, educating the public about
the environment in addition to safety would encourage people to leave the
environment the way it was when they arrived.

Feedback:
Great work! Very impressed!
The only thing that you could include would be incorporating the use of signs
around the area to educate people that way. Use parks Victoria or another
service could ratio the visitor numbers for accommodation and on each climbing
site. Also with more people using this area more vegetation around the sites will
be trampled on, or eroded not just the rock faces!

Great job, I'm only being picky as I had little faults to deal with!
