Amphetamines

imulants called amphetamines, which may be abused by people looking for a sense
of euphoria. Risks include fast or irregular heartbeat, reduced appetite, heart
failure, nervousness, insomnia, and addiction. Nicknames for amphetamines includ
e "bennies," "black beauties," and "speed."

Methylphenidate
Methylphenidate is a stimulant found in the ADHD drugs Ritalin, Concerta, Metada
te, and Methylin,Addwize , Inspiral SR . Its nicknames include "MPH," R-ball," "
Skippy," "the smart drug," and "vitamin R." Taking high doses of a stimulant can
lead to a dangerously high body temperature, an irregular heartbeat, and the po
tential for cardiovascular failure or lethal seizures.
