Sample Lesson Plan 2

Lesson length: two days


Content/Skills: Commands and vocabulary related to classroom procedures
Outcome: Students will understand and rehearse classroom procedures.

routines to test students knowledge of Spanish.
Engagement/Setting the Stage
1. Students will be asked what a procedure is. The class will discuss their
answers.
2. Instructor will ask why procedures are important for life and for school.
3. Instructor will inform students that they will be practicing a variety of
classroom procedures to help them be successful in class.
Modeling/Guided Practice
1. Instructor will introduce vocabulary associated with the following
classroom situations. The target language will be used in the
imperative form when appropriate.
a. Getting ready for class
b. Greeting the instructor
c. Listening to the instructor
d. Classroom discussion
e. Taking out materials
f. Heading their papers

g. Asking the instructor what a word means.


2. After each procedure is explained, the instructor and students will
practice.
3. If the procedure involves an oral response, students will answer using
the appropriate phrase. If the procedure involves the student asking
the question, the teacher will respond appropriately.
4. If the procedure involves a command, the students will execute the
command.
5. Instructor will call students in rows, pairs and individually and ask them
to perform the procedures practiced in class.
Independent practice
1. Instructor will then place students in groups of four to practice the oral
questions and responses, as well as the speaking and execution of oral
commands.
2. Students will later be given an individual test in which they provide
appropriate responses or execute commands.
Assessment and evaluation:
Assessment will include:
- teacher observation during oral activities
- grades on individual testing
