Pollution
As one of the most ignored factors of today's dilemma, pollution has been growing by its
factors more and more. Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that
causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem (projectpollution.blogspot.com, 2010). Throughout the world, pollution has been one of the main,
greatest world dilemma that has strongly affected our ecosystem. Because of pollution, today
drinking water is no longer clean, in fact, it is also limited, the air we breathe in is filled many
sorts of toxic chemicals causing diseases here and there, and then lands are degrading more and
more. There are three main causes due to pollution: air pollution, water pollution, and land
pollution.
Humans are the main cause of pollution. When it comes to cleaning up after ourselves,
respecting the land we live on, learning how to save and limit ourselves, we never end up doing
any of such sorts, yet we are the one to complain about our lives shortening. Swimming in the
ocean, as another example, is one of the effects of pollution today. Urinating, littering, and
fishing in the ocean sea contaminates the water as it also kills and affects many of the marines
we may eat in the sea also.
Based on NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Researches), there are two
concentrated research types of challenges. First would be to understand and solve the quantifying
impact of air quality through urban emissions. After would be the understanding based on

biosphere, physical climate system, and the chemical climate system. According to NCAR, "
Even slight variations in the concentrations of water vapor or carbon dioxide, methane, ozone,
and other greenhouse gasesnot to mention variations in the two main atmospheric components,
oxygen and nitrogencan have dramatic repercussions. When it comes to the pollution towards
the climate, the two areas of challenges that scientists are focusing mainly on are now currently
stimulating between the past statistics with todays along with the future statistics. Now, because
of the major effects from pollution, studies are being focused on also the lower and upper
troposphere and stratosphere for the chemical and physical climate system.
Similar environmental problems such as ozone hole, urban air pollution, and greenhouse
gases are the main subjects when it comes to what is going on in the atmosphere. As the main
provider for gases, water vapor, and many others, the atmosphere chemistry is the focus to the
understanding of how substances in the air works together with the impacts the Earths
ecosystem. In addition, all the human activities today makes up some of the drive to most
scientists researches on the pollution today.
Scientists would easily be able to determine the formation of pollution if only it were to
only occur in one location, but of course, as the role of the atmosphere, wind and gas tend to
blow around making pollution a regular motion. With this, they would disintegrate or fall back
to Earth as according to NCAR. This formulates the challenge of having to be able to control
and track the sources of pollution. As stated by NCAR, scientists using a computer model in
1998 found that 50 to 60% of sulfate aerosol in the Pacific Northwest appears to come from
industrialized Asiawhich may complicate efforts to keep the Northwests air clean".
As of today, to be able to understand more based on the impacts of pollution, many
researchers would compare and contrast between the atmosphere at relatively unpolluted areas,

such as the remote island, Antarctica, where air is over industrialized all over the region. In other
words, researchers are trying to understand what the difference between the clean and dirty air.
Sadly, pollution is too overly spreaded to the point of even reaching areas that were thought to be
pristine. Based on the researches made by project-pollution, NCAR scientists and their
colleagues have sampled aerosols in the air over the southern Indian Ocean, far downwind of
India.
