Hospitality Management Experiential Learning Project

Students will visit a hospitality organization that reflects their overall

hospitality goals. If students currently work in a sector of hospitality they
may choose a different segment in which they would like to gain more
knowledge and insight.
Students will utilize 5 10 hours in which they will visit the organization and
work with management. They will use this time to gain experience and
insight from the companys management and to gain information for the
paper component of the project.
Students will get the information necessary to complete their project paper
directly from the company and/or outside resources that pertain to the
company. Most of the information can be attained from interviewing a
manager and/or owner of the company along with the students own insight
from objectives discussed in Principles of Hospitality Management class.
Students must dress in professional attire when visiting the hospitality
organizations and/or any attire deemed necessary by the organization.
It is up to the students to schedule and coordinate days and times
available with management and make sure that they arrive on time and
dressed appropriately.
Students must conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Students should be respectful and take on learning opportunities
within the organization.
Even though this is not a job students should conduct themselves as if
they are working for the organization. This is a business environment
and in business we always take the opportunity to network.
Students will be given a handout in which a member of the companys
management will sign off on to signify that they have completed the
minimum 5 hour requirement.

Information for this project will be obtained from company visited and
outside sources as necessary. All outside sources should be cited properly.
