Trauma release

&

community rebuilding workshops,

workbooks & toolkits for kids, youth, teachers & volunteers.

THE PROBLEM
As you know, the earthquakes in Nepal have claimed thousands of lives, reduced homes and livelihoods to bits
and whats left are the people and children of Nepal struggling to pick up the pieces. More than 7000 people died
and thousands of children and adults are displaced, wounded and severely emotionally traumatised. While
buildings can be rebuilt, a broken spirit is a lot harder to heal.

OUR SOLUTION
We feel that trauma release and community rebuilding, workshops, workbooks and toolkits for children, youth,
adults and volunteers affected by this immensely traumatic event will help to heal the emotional wounds.

PROGRAMME RELEVANCE
This programme was piloted in the Philippines in 2013 to assist children and youth in typhoon affected areas. It
includes mindfulness-based strategies and design thinking. It is part of the Design For Change movement,
pioneering child-led citizenship, enabling learners and teachers in 35 countries to address issues affecting them.

OUR INTENTIONS
Our team will conduct programmes that help children and youth to experientially learn strategies to:
-release negative emotions
-remember innate positivity
-regrow communities, with mindful awareness of need for personal healing

MISSION GOALS
To provide up to 6 hours of daily workshops with workbooks and toolkits to guide mindfulness-based, trauma
release strategies and design-thinking steps for community rebuilding to 160 kids and 120 adults during a 2 week
mission to Nepal.

PROGRAMME LOGISTICS
-Duration: 15 days
-Dates: June 15-30
-Daily schedule: 1 x 2hr learner workshop with up to 40 kids/youth each day, 1 x 2hr adult workshop with up to 30
parents/volunteers each day
-Total Fundraising goal-$2,070 to pay for workbook and toolkit printing, travel and a volunteer stipend for a
Nepalese friend.
