2. Mobile Technology
This article is from MIT News website posted on May 18, 2015 by Laura
Anca Chichisan. The article is about todays mobile technology and an
app call InstaAid. InsaAid is an IPad application that transformed the
nurse call system at home. It enables residents at The Boston Home
(TBH) to have an assistance from any are of the facility. This
application is a project of three students from MIT who are aiming to
improve the nurse call system in The Boston Home facility to help the
patients. The reason for the project was mainly to make the residents
with disability lives easier. This application is built to help the residents
who has a disability. The advantage of this application is a user can
easily call a nurse or aide in emergency with a touch of a button or can
simply modify their message and the resident can easily request for
any assistance (water, food, live chats with the family members, Etc.)
easily without any problems. If the resident cant communicate they
can communicate via text and nurses can assist depending on the
residents requests. The staff also can identify whether if there is an
emergency or not and it helps them dispatch the correct staff.
