Plant layout design must provide unobstructed

space for repair, servicing ,personnel to access and remove component without removing
unrelated equipment and piping. Adeqaute clearance should be provided adjacent to or
around equipment and controls that require in situ servicing or removal from their fixed
location for repair etc
Valve , instrument must be accessible without impairing the safety of personnel
Sfaety: the laoyout must enable plant personnel to exit a potentially hazardous area
without injury.so adequate road ways to provide access for fire fighters , strategically
placing fire detectors , and hydrants around the plant. In addition, sufficient ladders and
stairways at structure to meet OSHA requirement, locating potential sources of gas leaks
and setting height and location of vents to prevent injury to maintence or operation
personnel. Platforms head rooms, width of walkways, width of ladders, diameter of cage
should be ergonomically designed (there are some standards
Paving within plants ISBL should include all equipment, areas beneath min pipe racks
unless required for maintenance reasons. Unpaved areas within battery limit must be
graded and surfaced. All pavings must be sloped for drainage. Curbs and walls should be
used for process units to contain spills from equipment
During the layout, contractor must ensure adequate platform is provided for
maintenance access, RV, CV, Pressure/temperature instruments etc.
Normally plot plan is designed by plant layout designer highlighting equipment and
supporting facilities. Plot plan developed with 3d CAD modeling produces multiple
plans, elevations, isometric views without effort.
Heat exchangers: Horizontal S&T hx should have adequate maintenance access for
tube bundle removal with sufficient space at the front end of exchanger for removal
of bonnet. Permanent tube bundle removal structure should be considered , or
space requirement for using bundle puller or bundle extractor ,
