the theoretical background or overarching theme):

public) and its contribution to music classes.

Purpose of the research:

schools offer different quality music classes.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: Participants were recruited from individuals who have experience in this
field. All of them were music educators and each one was working in a different type of
school. David DeStefano Charter School, Tom Miller Magnet School, Philip
Steinbacher Private School.

offerings, its connection to funding.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source: Individual interviews.

classes.

RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article): It was understood that private
schools and magnet schools offers a better quality music foundation. Since their parental
support, even though lack of state funding, helps them to build a quality program in
music area for students. On the other hand, Charter schools, even though they get state
funding for these type of programs, the funding is very limited, thats why it is causing
low quality in such talent programs, such as music.
- Charter Schools should involve parents in school programs more financially.

DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications (for your profession): It should be very well planned before
offering such a big program to students. And it shouldnt be expected to offer for only a
year program. School administrator should consider at least 5 years of planning before
deciding to offer a comprehensive music program.
