Introduction
Its important to have knowledge about the context, in which are inserted our
students. First of all, it will help us to realize another social perspective that was far
away of what we lived during our years in our schools. However, experiences are
always helpful to prepare yourself for the future, in our case our future as teachers.
Furthermore, context in this case not only mean the socio-economic status of the
students, but also the implements that the school provides, such as: Computers
room, library ,etc. That directly affect the planning and sometimes the learning
process.

I.- CONTEXTUAL FACTORS

MDD Standard
The teacher candidate collects data regarding the institutional and classroom
contexts, the characteristics of the pupils as a group and its diversity, using this
information to plan and deliver instruction.

1. Community in which the school is located and/or serves, municipality or

owner and school factors: Below, describe the geographic location, community
and school population, socioeconomic profile, and race/ethnicity.

Esther Hunneus de Claro is located in Jose del Carmen Soto, 8th Region, which is a
peripheral location in an urban area. Its directed to a low resources or low economic
status communities. Furthermore, the institution has: a teachers room, library,
computers room, bathrooms, a room for diferencial students, etc.
Most of the students are from different sectors around Concepcin, such as: Miraflor,
Juan Pablo II, Cementerio, Gabriela Mistral, Briceo, Prieto Cruz, etc.
The students present a low school vulnerability index (IVE : 90.7%), which highlights
a major shortcomings, like: cultural, economic, emotional, etc. To continue with, one
of the reasons that produce the result in the previous index, its that most of the
parents work in temporary jobs with a very limited schedule, producing a lack of
communication and attention to their children's needs.

1.1. How These Factors May Impact My Lessons: Explain specific ways
that these factors may impact your lesson topics, teaching strategies,
assessment techniques, etc.

The rooms have enough chairs and tables for student. Nonetheless, the classroom
does not have a projector to show videos and PowerPoint presentations, which
indicates that the board is the only visual instrument that I can use to highlight
information (like old school). However, I could use the walls to hang up notes of
different units (that are difficult for them) ,such as: Pronouns, different verbs, etc.
students are use to work with worksheet (most of them find it boring), so a good idea
would be to use games to call their attention, the idea is to use a Communicative
Approach, meaning that instead of writing they have to speak. The last idea would
not have a quick response, since most of the students dont like the English
language, they are very distractive, etc. Moreover, the attitude that some of them
present in class is very unmotivated, thats why the idea of a game could change the
behavior of those students.

2. Student Characteristics and Their Instructional Implications: Below, describe

how two student characteristics you observed in your student (e.g., gender,
race/ethnicity, interests, student skill levels) might impact the way you instruct those
students. For example, your planning, motivation, management, or assessment. For
each example of the student characteristic, give a specific instructional implication
that will influence how you plan and implement your instruction.

2.1 Description of First Characteristic of Student(s) in this Class:

In sixth grade there is a girl how is very shy and quiet, the first time that I attend the
course I could not talk to her because I was helping other students. The next class I
had the opportunity to work with her and I realized that she was very clever, she is
always paying attention to what the teacher says.

2.1.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:

Those kind of students are always a good contribution for a class because they work
hard during the class and try to make the best of them. Maybe, if this girl was more
participative in the class it would be better because she could show all her
capacities. To my mind, for my planning this student would be a guide in terms of
the level of performance, which I could stand to all the classes because the rest of
students would be forced to have the same level than this girl.
2.2 Description of Second Characteristic of Students in this Class:
In seventh grade we have a very insolent girl, she confront us the first class
we attend the course and we realized that it would be very difficult to work with her
from now on, because she does not the willingness to participate in the class, she is
always causing chaos in the class, such as shouting.

2.2.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:

In my opinion, these attitudes in a class can cause disturbance and it can
affect the rest of students who are interested for learning. It can influence in a bad
way the management of the class, for example, the teacher will always be
interrupted by this kind of students and for the other students it will be difficult to
follow the lesson in a way that they can learn efficiently.

3. Physical Aspects of the Classroom and Their Instructional Implications: Below,

describe how two physical aspects of the classroom you observed (e.g., posters,
room arrangement, technology) might impact the way you instruct students, for
example, planning, motivation, management, or assessment. For each example,
give a specific instructional implication that will influence how you plan and
implement your instruction.

3.1 Description of First Physical Aspect:

Its a very wide room, which has windows and enough chairs and tables for the
students. Most of the walls are full of draws; beside, the rooms don't have the
implements to show videos or Powerpoint presentation.
3.1.1 How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:

We would have to use old school techniques, like hanging up posters or notes to
remind them important information that for them it's very difficult to remember, such
as: pronouns. During the planning of the class, we could include games(written or
oral) that are not frequent for them in another language.

3.2 Description of Second Physical Aspect:

The rooms are wide; the students share the table with another classmate, so there
are two students per table. the sit in lines and the teacher explains the unit in front of
them The students can walk in the halls that are between the tables without any
problem.

3.2 How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:

If we move the chairs and the table very close to the walls, we would have enough
space for an activity that could include physical movement (warm up). In addition, we
can change the sit arrangements that student have in a circle, so we'll be able to
check if they are paying attention, we will see them without any difficulties, they will
be in the same distance of the teacher

Reflection
First of all, it is very important to suggest that we have to know our students,
thus they can feel that exit, beside they can start feeling interested for their learning.
Secondly, knowing about the context in which they are immerse is also very relevant,
since it can help us to present the knowledge that we are carry in a clearer way in
order to engage them easily. Finally, we consider the need to highlight the
importance of the previous factor, due to they are a helpful tool in order to make the
learning process more effective for the students.
