STATE-OF-THE-ART
PARAMEDICINE
SIMULATION SUITE
A new state-of-the-art simulation suite for undergraduate and
postgraduate paramedicine students has been developed at AUTs
South Campus. Paramedicine students will benefit from hands-on
experience with lifelike, responsive human simulators, and health
professionals looking to refresh their skills or retrain will also be able
to access short courses using the new purpose-built facilities.
AUT paramedicine students are now able to experience
lifelike trauma and medical situations and gain vital
hands-on time with patients before entering the
workforce. The hands-on experience will take place
in the new state-of-the-art simulation suite for
undergraduate and post-graduate paramedicine
students at AUTs South Campus in Manukau.
The patients students are working with are actually
high fidelity human simulators that mimic human body
responses during a medical emergency, and react
appropriately to the treatment they receive.

AUT is the only university in New Zealand to offer the

Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) in Paramedicine.
AUTs South Campus is also offering a number of short
courses to health professionals, including a 3 Lead ECG
interpretation online short course and a simulationbased resuscitation skills programme.
