Africa for
100

They are the largest land

mammal in the world.
When swimming, they use
their trunks like snorkels.

Africa for 200

Their roar can be heard from

up to 5 miles away. The male
is easily recognized by his
distinctive mane.

Africa for 300

They belong to the same

family as horses and
donkeys. Dont send them to
jail just because they each
have a unique pattern of
black and white stripes.

Africa for 400

Their habitat is usually found

in African savannas,
grasslands or open
woodlands. They use their
long necks and long, bristly
tongues to eat leaves from
treetops.

Africa for 500

All five species of this animal

can grow to weigh over 2200
pounds. They have thick,
protective skin and a single
horn. Their name comes from
the word that means nose
horn.

Asia for 100

Their diet is made up

almost entirely of bamboo.
They are native to China
and have a black and
white coat that features
large black patches
around its eyes.

Asia for 200

This is the largest animal in

the cat family. It can grow
up to 11 feet in length. Its
stripes help to keep it
hidden from prey.

Asia for 300

The male has an array of colorful tail

feathers that fan out in a beautiful
display, but the female is a drab,
mottled brown in comparison. He
needs his bright feathers to attract a
mate, and she needs to be able to
blend in with the bushes so that
predators cannot see her while she is
incubating her eggs.

Asia for 400

Long eyelashes, ear hair,

and closable nostrils keep
sand from affecting them
in wind. You may have
heard they store water in
the unusual humps on
their backs, but its
actually a fat deposit.

Asia for 500

They dont live in big family

groups like other great apes.
The mother may live only with
her young, males usually live
alone. They have long, thin,
reddish-brown hair and very
long arms for climbing trees
and swinging.

America for 100

This state animal of Nevada is in

the same family as goats. They
have short brown fur, a white
muzzle and rump patch. They
have split hooves which aid in
balance and rough hoof bottoms
for natural grip. Their sure
footing help them move easily
around rugged mountain terrain.

America for 200

They are the largest land

mammal in North America.
Sometimes people call them
by the wrong name of buffalo.
They have a shaggy coat in
winter to keep them warm.

America for 300

Americas national bird

doesnt really need a wig.

America for 400

They live and hunt in

groups called packs.
They are the ancestors of
all domestic dogs, but
dont ever try to get one
to play fetch.

America for 500

Contrary to popular belief, it is not a

true hibernator. In the winter its body
temperature may drop a few degrees
and its respiration may slow slightly,
but it can remain active all winter. It
has long hairs on its head and
shoulders that often have white tips
and give the bear the "grizzled"
appearance from which it gets its
name.

Australia for 100

The smallest of these birds

can be found on the coast of
Australia. Their main diet is
fish, though they'll also eat
squid, small shrimplike
animals called "krill and
crustaceans. They dont take
off their tuxedo when its
time to swim!

Australia for 200

They are often called bears

because they look a little like
teddy bears, but they are
actually marsupials. Like other
marsupials, the female has a
pouch where she carries her
baby.

Australia for 300

They can hop around

quickly on two legs or walk
around slowly on all four,
but they cant walk
backwards. They can jump
very high, sometimes up to
3 times their height.

Australia for 400

They are not fish, theyre

mammals. This very intelligent
animal often displays a playful
attitude which makes them
popular in human culture. They
can be seen jumping out of the
water, riding waves, play
fighting and occasionally
interacting with humans
swimming in the water.

Australia for 500

They are legendary as

Australia's wild dogs,
though they also occur in
Southeast Asia. The
Australian animals may be
descendents of Asian
versions that were
introduced to the continent
some 3,000 to 4,000 years
ago.

The Arctic for 100

They have black skin and

although their fur appears
white, it is actually
transparent. It is the
largest carnivore (meat
eater) that lives on land.

The Arctic for 200

These animals support many

different types of sea life.
Several creatures, such as
barnacles and sea lice, attach
themselves to their skin and
live there. They love to sing!
They use this as a call to
mates, a way to communicate
and also just for fun!

The Arctic for 300

The arctic variety is pure white.

They are generally solitary
animals; unlike wolves, they
hunt on their own rather than in
packs. They dig underground
dens where they take care of
their kits and hide from
predators.

The Arctic for 400

They spend much of their

life in water, but they mate,
give birth to babies and
take care of them on the
shore. Thick fur and
blubber offer protection
against freezing
temperatures.

The Arctic for 500

These birds have large eyes

and a flat face. They need
large eyes so they can see
when they hunt at night.
Harry Potter will tell you all
about his.
