The Royal Portfolio

Description: Each student will construct an online portfolio to create, collect, and reflect on the various assessments,
formative and summative, involved in the study and comprehension of British literature. Each portfolio will center around
one theme the student will use to make connections between the various time periods.
Purpose: To become college and career ready, students must grapple with [literary] works of exceptional craft and thought
whose range extends across genres, cultures, and centuries. They must also, [when writing,] take task, purpose, and audience
into careful consideration, choosing words, information, structures, and formats deliberately. The Internet has accelerated
the speed at which connections between speaking, listening, reading, and writing can be made, requiring that students be
ready to use these modalities nearly simultaneously. Technology itself is changing quickly, creating a new urgency for
students to be adaptable in response to change. -Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy
