Class Rules:
1. Be respectful to the teacher, other students, yourself, and the equipment.
2. Be prepared Be on time, on task, and have all materials each day.
3. No cell phones, iPods, or other electronic devices. I reserve the right to take them if I see them.
4. No eating, drinking, or grooming in class.
5. A student must be able to produce an ID when asked and also to leave the classroom during instructional
time.
6. Absolutely NO YouTube or other streaming music sites in the classroom. Use of these sites will
result in loss of computer use.
Attendance Policy: Please refer to Ashleys 2015-2016 Attendance Policy. 11 or more absences will be
referred to Ashleys attendance council for further review. A student who misses more than 11 days in a
semester will receive and incomplete for the course and shall not be awarded course credit except by
determination of the attendance committee upon careful review of the students records. Students who are not
passing the course, will receive their current grade for the semester.
Tardy Policy: PLEASE BE ON TIME to minimize classroom distractions. Please refer to the 2015-2016 Ashley
student handbook for consequences of excessive tardies. Students must be present for 60 minutes to be
considered present in a class. Tadies of more than 60 minutes will be considered as an unexcused absence unless
accompanied by an excuse note. NO STUDENTS WILL BE AUTHORIZED TO LEAVE THE ROOM FOR THE FIRST OR
LAST 15 MINUTES OF THE PERIOD.

Materials:
v 3 ring binder (1 inch)
v Pen or pencil (even though this is a computer class, you need something to write with each day)
v A sketch notebook (this can be an actual sketchpad, a composition book, spiral notebook, etc.)
v Flash Drive (4GB is ideal)

At the end of the course, ALL students will take a State End of Course Test. This test is created and graded by
the State of North Carolina and will cover the objectives listed on the syllabus. Please keep in mind that county
policy requires this test be 25% of your final grade.
Make-up Work: MAKE UP WORK IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY. When returning from an absence, please
check Google Classroom and the Make-up word bins to obtain your make up work. When returning from an
absence you will have one day for every day absent to complete any assignments. It is the students
responsibility to get any notes that were missed. All make up work should be turned in before or after class, not
during.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM: www.classroom.google.com Google Classroom is a safe social learning platform that
lets our class connect both at school and from home. Classroom materials, a calendar of assignments, links, and
other information will be posted DAILY. Google Classroom is intended for educational purposes only. Any
inappropriate or irrelevant content will be deleted. Google Classroom is available to both students and parents.
Parents can email or call me for a parent code that will allow you to access assignments and grades. Students
will sign up for and account during the first couple of days of class and have access all semester.
Internet Usage Policy and Internet Safety: Please refer to New Hanover Board Policy 7188.
Important NOTE: Students are only allowed to use the internet with teachers approval. Students are not
allowed to download programs, install software, surf inappropriate websites, play games during instructional
time or insert personal DVD/CDs into the computer.
** The majority of work will be done in class. However, occasional homework or projects may be assigned.
*** Daily assignments will be posted on Google Classroom for parents and students. Please do not hesitate
to call or e-mail me with questions or concerns. I am here to support your Ashley Student.
