HOMEWORK # 1 Load Distribution

LOAD DISTRIBUTION
A typical floor framing plan shown has a 125 mm concrete floor slab. The slab carries flooring made up of
5 mm thick slate flooring, a ceiling made up of suspended metal lath and gypsum plaster, and
mechanical-electrical utilities of 0.15 kPa. The said floor is intended for school considering the following:
Panel A, B, C, D, I, K and L is for the classrooms, Panel F, G, H and J is for the hallway, Panel E is
intended for stairs. The exterior girder has a 3.3 m high masonry wall that is 150mm thick, fully grouted
and plastered on the both exterior and interior face of the wall. The partition for rooms is made up of 3.30
m high masonry wall that is 100mm thick, fully grouted and plastered on the both exterior and interior. All
beams and girder has a dimension of 350mm by 600mm concrete. All columns have a dimension of
500mm by 500mm concrete.
a. Determine the governing ultimate loads in kN/m acting on the beam between panels A and grid B
b. Determine the governing ultimate loads in kN/m acting on the girder along grid B
c. Determine the governing ultimate loads in kN/m acting on the girder along grid 1.
d. Determine the governing ultimate loads in kN/m acting on the girder along grid 3
