Barriers to effective communication

Barrier
P3

Description
P3

Doors being
closed.

The door being

physically shut,
meaning that
communication with
the people on the
other side is tedious.
If you are attempting
to communicate with
someone who speaks
a different language
(and to a certain
extent dialect) to you,
this can lead to
misunderstandings.
Also links to cultural
appropriation.
The offence that
someone may take
from your attempting
to communicate with
them in a way that
they would be
culturally used too
(only applies if their
culture differs to your
own.)
When someone is not
aware of what is
culturally acceptable
in cultures other than
their own. This could
lead to possible
conflicts and
misunderstanding.

Cultural
differences

How could we
overcome this?
M1
Open it.

Learn the other

language, allow more
time for the person in
question to
understand you as to
help possibly avoid
conflicts.

Be more sensitive
about others cultures
and understand that
you may be offending
them.

Attempt to learn more

about the other
persons culture, if you
do not have time then
just try to be
respectful.

Time

P3 & M1
A common part of
everyday interaction,
in which two or more
people engage in
conversation with
anterior motives.
Signs of trust issues
begin in early
childhood and are
closely related to
your relationship with
your parents, you can
mirror this fear/need
onto other people,
causing you to
appear either needy
or isolated. This can
be a problem during
communication as it
is a requirement that
you are able to
communicate fluidly
to carry a
conversation.
In which the
management are in a
physically different
place to the common
echelon of the
company. This can
lead to
misunderstandings
and a difficulty in
reporting issues.
Time is a fairly
constant barrier being
that it is unfixable, it
is also a requirement
in order to create
connections with
people.

As it is common place
in conversations, you
have very little choice
but to deal with it.
See a therapist, or just
talk to people, in order
for you to begin to
build relationships.

Try to improve the

companys
communication policy
with the management
and its employees.

Try to manage the

time that you do, so
that you are more
efficient with the
communication that
you achieve.
