AT&T Enhances Network in Fitchburg;
Mayor Wong, Town Officials to Visit New Cell Site
WHAT:

Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong and Fire Chief Kevin Roy will join AT&T New England on
Monday to tour a new AT&T cell site that is bringing enhanced 4G LTE wireless service to the
local area.
The new cell site carries 1,000 hours of phone calls per day and handles enough data to
support more than 55,000 daily song downloads. Located off Pratt Road in Fitchburg, the cell
site has boosted coverage along Routes 12 and 31 and in the surrounding area.
This is just one example of AT&Ts continued investment in Massachusetts. Between 20122014, the company invested nearly $550 million in its wireless and wireline networks in
Massachusetts, and in 2014 alone AT&T made nearly 120 wireless network upgrades
across the state.
Fitchburg is pleased with the investments by AT&T and know this will be a huge asset to
attracting economic development to the area, said Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong.
