EGYPT
There are so many countries I could have chosen to research; however, I have always
been interested in visiting Egypt. Egypt is very interesting they have a strange writing process
and language, there cultures are very strange. They have very nice famous land marks like: the
pyramid of Giza, the sphinx, tombs, and mummies, and barred treasure.

GOVERNMENT
The government is like a pyramid with the most important on the top: 1- the
pharaoh, 2- the government officials, 3- the soldiers, 4- the scribes,
5- the merchants, 6- the artisans, 7- the farmers, and 8- the slaves
LOCATION
Egypt is located in the northeastern corner of Africa. Rectangular in shape, it
covers an area of 386,000 square miles. To the West lie the Western Desert and
Libya, and the East is bordered by a desert plateau, Red Sea and Sinai. The Sudan
is on Egypt's southern border and to the North lies the Mediterranean.
CURRENCY
Before coins started to circulate in ancient Egypt around 500 BC, there was a
system of values based on weights of gold, silver, and copper. Metal measured in
units of weight known as Deben (around 90 g) could be used to settle bills and to
trade.
TOURISM

Richardson3

There exits, for Egypt, very standard tours that are offered by practically every
tour operator. These are the antiquity tours that last anywhere between about five
and fourteen days, and make their way up and down the Nile River, visiting
pyramids and other tombs, temples, museums and various other standard sites.
They are the type of tour that most first time, classical tourists take when they visit
Egypt.
FAMOUS LANDMARKS
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the most substantial ancient structure in the world
and the most mysterious. According to prevailing archeological theory and is
absolutely no evidence to confirm this idea the three pyramids on the Giza
plateau are funerary structures of three kings of the fourth dynasty (2575 to 2465
BC). The Great Pyramid, attributed to Khafra (Chephren) next to it, and that of
Menkaura (Mycerinus) the smallest of the three.
FLAG
The free Officers whom King Farouk lost t in the Revolution of 1952 designated
specific symbolism to all of the three bands of the Arab Liberation Flag. The color
red represents the period before the Revolution. It was a time described by the
skirmish against the monarchy and the British occupation of the nation. The white
on the other hand represents the halt of the cruelty of the people in Egypt at the
hands of the foreign colonialism and monarchy.

among the earliest civilizations. For millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly
complex and stable culture that influenced later influenced later cultures of
Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
FOOD
Egyptian cuisine and some of its recipes date back 5000 years and archeologists
have even revealed the use of food as a means of payment during ancient times. Of
course, there have been some adjustments to the dishes over the years, mainly with

the addition of ingredients and styles taken from other cultures (note the dropping
of alcoholic drinks has also been a part of this change).
