THE HISTORY OF BELT IS

THE HISTORY OF BANDO

Bando Chemical Industries Ltd owes its name and origins to the inventor
Mr. Naosaburo Bando. During the 1890s, Mr. Bando began research to develop an
original type of industrial belt. After 10 years of extensive research
he succeeded in designing a new belt, the first of its kind in Japan. This new belt
was patented as BANDO BELT (Japanese Patent No. 3384).

PT. BANDO INDONESIA

With a rich and tradition behind us, PT. Bando Indonesia is today the leading manufacturer
of conveyor belt in Indonesia. PT. Bando Indonesia is a joint venture manufacturing
company between PT. Kreasi Utama Investama and Bando Chemical Industries, Ltd.
Japan, which is one of the worlds leading integrated manufacturers of rubber belts since
1906.
Since our establishment in 1987 in Indonesia, we have continually innovated and
developed our products to earn our customers satisfaction.

Bando Chemical Industries Ltd owes its name and origin to inventor name Mr. NAOSABURO BANDO. In 1890s,
Mr. BANDO began to conduct research to develop an original type of industrial belt. Finally, after ten years ( 1900 )
Mr. BANDO held and extensive research and succeeded in inventing a new belt, which was named the BANDO
BELT, and protected by a patent. ( Japanese PAT. No. 3384 ) as the first belt of its kind of belt in Japan.

This series belts provides extensive specifications for various service conditions
from conveying of bulk materials like gravel, crushed stone, fertilizer, and
minerals ones to larger lump materials.

Features

SUNLON Belts for general use

1. Less ply structure : can be used with a small-diameter pulley.
2. High bending-resistance and exellent troughability.
3. Can be easily spliced by cold vulcanizing
4. High-Impact resistance that gives less damage to the core fabric.
5. Its cover rubber is highly resistant to chip cut and abrasion, thus ensuring the belts longevity.

HEAT - CARRY CONVEYOR BELTS

Application

Heat carry conveyor belts are designed for use where either the material temperature or ambient
temperature exceeds 60 0C (140 0F)

high-temperature applications and is
abrasion-resistant.

for medium

This noncrack white belt is made of

EPR polymer is suitable for materials
highly sensitive to contamination.

1. The temperature of material being transported and the belts surface temperature vary according to the

Cautions

material and shape. For instance, when materials have a temperature 150 0C (300 0F)(such as coke or
sintered ore) and have a relatively small contact area with the belt the belts surface temperature remains at
60 ~ 80 0C (140 ~ 180 0F). In contrast, when powdered material like cement is being conveyed, the material
temperature and the belt temperature do not differ so greatly.

The life of a heat-resistant belt is largely affected by belts suface temperature during operation.

Therefore, pay closer attention to the surface temperature than the conveyed material when selecting a
belt.

SKIRTING RUBBER
Application

Conveyor Belt Skirting Rubber is a specifically designed rubber sheet used as sealing strip on conveyor system
loading, transfer and discharge points. Skirting rubber is used to direct material onto the conveyor belt and
reduce spillage.

Features

At PT. Bando Indonesia we produce a full range of skirting rubber including full slabs up to 2200 mm wide and
a range of pre-cut skirting rubber strips in a variety of thickness.
Custom width strips can also be supplied as per customer requirements.

Construction

Bando Skirting Rubber is specially designed with hardness (duro) 55 with tolerance 5, which is lower than
the common hardness of conveyor belt.

20

PULLEY LAGGING
Application

Lagging is the term used to describe the application of a coating, cover or wearing surface which is applied to
pulley shells.

Features

Rubber lagging is applied to pulley shells in order to improve the friction between the pulley and the belt.
PT Bando Indonesia produce a variety of rubber lagging patterns: Plain, Stripe and Diamond pattern, with a
full range of widths and thickness up to 2,200 mm width and 30.0 mm thick. ( exclude Diamond Pattern).

Construction

Diamond grooved lagging refers to the pattern in the lagging and this pattern, similiar to vehicle tires, enhances
the grip or friction even if the belt surface is dirty.
Plain lagging is applied to pulleys which are not drive pulleys for example tail pulleys, take-up pulleys, etc. but
which require good traction between belt and pulley for improved belt tracking capability.

SUNPAT-ECO VULCANIZING MATERIAL

AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
Application

This is adhesive for vulcanizing rubber at ambient temperature,

used for the splicing and repair of conveyor belts.

Features

1. Shorter Curing Time

The belt can be in operation only two hours after work is completed.
(with ambient temperatures over 15 0C ~ 35 0C).
2. Wider Applicable Range
SUNPAT-ECO is also applicable to SBR type heat resistant belt and oil resistant belts.
3. High Peeling Off Resistantce
Even though cushion rubber is not used is hightly resistant to peeling off caused by bending.
4. Operational Efficiency is increased
With its quick drying performance yet high adhesion it eliminates problems such as mis-positioning.
Finishing is also simple.

STEEL CORD CONVEYOR BELT

Application

Long span, high strength, high capacity

Features

1. High Tensile Strength permit high tension operation

2. Excellent Bending Resistance
3. Extremely Small Elongation
4. Excellent Dynamic Adhesion
5. Excellent Impact Resistance

Construction

Standard structure of BANDO STEEL CORD CONVEYOR BELT is of all rubber type
and is designed as follows :
The steel cord is of high quality carbon steel ( 6.65%-0.75% ) and coated with zinc
for protection from corrosion. For normal applications steel cord with low bending
fatigue, such as 7XW19 is used. 7X7X7 is also available, depending on the particular
application.

TAKE-UP STROKE
When deciding on the take-up stroke it is necessary to consider both elastic elongation and permanent stretch.

TAKE-UP STROKE
( Percentage of Center-to-Center Distance )
Kind of carcass

Elastic Elongation

Permanent Stretch

Take-up Stroke Recommended

NN100 ~ 350

0.3 ~ 0.5

1.0 ~ 1.2

1.7 + Additional length

NN400 ~ 630

0.4 ~ 0.8

1.0 ~ 1.2

2.0 + Additional length

EP

0.1 ~ 0.3

0.4 ~ 0.6

0.9 + Additional length

Additional length = Spare length + Initial stretch

( Initial stretch : Approximate 0.5% )

Spare length equals a half of a splicing length or

2 ft ( 500 mm ) whichever is longer, plus 0.2% of
the center-to-center distance with a minimum of 6
inches ( 150 mm ) and a maximum of 40 inches
( 1000 mm ).
The former provides sufficient length in case
resplicing is required due to an accident or mishap.
The latter is considered necessary to provide the
slack in the conveyor line which is required during
splicing work and is afterwards absorbed into the
take-up
