COURSE SYLLABUS
Textbook:
Instructor:
Algebra 2, Glencoe
Ramal Lamar
Materials:
You will need the following materials for this course: pencil, composition notebook,
graphing calculator, scientific calculator, a straightedge and a ruler. We will use Mathematica,
computer software to solve and model more complex problems.
Cooperative Group Work: There will be a lot of cooperative group work with your classmates.
When you are working cooperatively, always be willing to listen to each other, to actively participate,
to ask each other questions, and to help each other when asked. You can accomplish much more
cooperatively than you can individually. And best of all, you'll experience less frustration and have
much more fun.
Attendance: You as a student are expected to be in class everyday on time. If you are late, I will not
let you in class without a pass from the front office. Also if you are late three times, that counts for one
absence. Three absences will result in an automatic F grade in this course. If you know that you will be
absent for class you must give me at least two days notice, otherwise you'll miss valuable class
material.
There will be weekly quizzes in class after we've covered a unit. All
the Quizzes count for 25% of your grade.
Tests:
There will be tests at the end of each chapter. The best way to
prepare for the tests are to do all the homework assignments,
especially the review problems, and to do well on the weekly
quizzes.
Grading:
Half the grade is based on academics and the other half is based on behavior
and is broken down as follows:
