Lesson Title: SEPEP Cricket

Lesson: 3

Year Level: 8

Lesson Aim
The aim of this lesson is for students to work cooperatively as an individual and in a
team atmosphere. Students should utilize the throwing and catching skills learnt in the
previous 2 lessons.
Step 1Desired Results (What students will learn)
Standards, benchmarks, other objectives as needed. What should students
know, understand, and be able to do as a result of the lesson?

Students will transfer skills learnt in one movement situation to a different

situation
Students will perform and refine specialised movement skills in challenging
movement situations
Students will perform specialised movement skills in situations where the rules
or conditions have been modified to vary complexity
Students will use knowledge of results feedback to support other students in
performing a skill with greater accuracy or control
Students will reflect on how fair play and ethical behaviour can influence the
outcomes of movement activities
Students will participate in competitions where players rather than an
independent official are responsible for applying the rules
Students will be able to analyse how equitable participation in group activities
can influence outcomes in physical activity

The year 8 curriculum allows students to develop leadership, fair/ethical play and
teamwork across a range of movement and health contexts. Students will develop the
ability to use decision-making and problem-solving skills when participating in a range
of cricket activities such as throwing, catching, bowling and batting. Students will
further learn how to use their own knowledge to support other students in performing
a skill with greater accuracy or control. Additionally, students will be able to analyse
how equitable participation in group activities can influence outcomes in cricket.
Step 2Assessment Evidence (Summative/Formative check for learning)
Performance taskWhat will students do to show what they have learned?
Students will participate in a variety of cricket related activities, which will allow them
to develop and perform skills such as throwing, catching, fielding, batting and bowling.

Students will get involved, be open to learning, create a positive idea
about the sport, have fun and be active

aware of the following safety considerations:

Be aware of any physical limitations throughout the entirety of the cricket unit;

Students must be sun smart if we are participating in an outdoor environment,

e.g. must wear sunscreen, a hat with neck protection, long sleeve clothing and
correct protective eyewear;

Check that each student has appropriate footwear, such as sneakers or runners
and that shoelaces are tied securely;

Ensure that students have appropriate clothing, which is suitable for energetic
movement, such as shorts, t-shirts, track pants, etc;

All jewellery is to be removed prior to the commencement of activities;

Ensure students are not chewing gum or eating during the session;

Teacher must visually check that the activity area is clear of any hazards;

Make students aware of boundaries during each activity;

Encourage students to make teacher aware if they have any safety concerns;
and

Ensure that students are aware of the space and each other.

Step 5Lesson Evaluation

Participation - This student outcome can be evaluated through teacher observations
of individual student participation throughout the entirety of the lesson. Furthermore,
student responses to any questions asked by the teacher in regards to the SEPEP
model will assist the teacher in evaluating participation and knowledge.

Social Constructs - This lesson outcome will be evaluated through teacher

observation of how students are working within their groups.
Safety - This lesson outcome will be assessed through teacher observations of
individual students to the unit safety rules sheet.
