Objectives/Goals:
on Google Docs, I will be able to see who answered correctly and who revised. I will be able to
tailor grammar instruction throughout the week accordingly.
Materials Needed:
Sentence Play cards (#12a, b, c, d) (See appendix B)
Fall of the House of Usher (One copy)
Laptops
Google Docs
Sentence Play Document (On Google Docs, Completed, See Appendix A)
Attention to Individual Student Needs:
Four of my students are further advanced than their peers. When they finish their Sentence Plays
early, they circulate the room and help their peers in a manner similar to the AVID program.
They do not give the answers, but rather ask wide, open-ended, and guiding questions to help
their peers come to the answers on their own. For two of my students who have a history of
struggling with sentence structure for the past few weeks, I will check in with them more
frequently.

and the evidence of some bitter struggle
upon her robes
there was blood

to which the speaker pointed
threw slowly back
their ponderous and ebony jaws

there had been found the potency of a spell
as if in the superhuman energy of his utterance

and in her violent and now final death-agonies
for a moment she remained trembling and reeling
he had anticipated
and a victim to the terrors
bore him to the floor a corpse
fell heavily inward
to and fro upon the threshold
upon the person of her brother
then with a low moaning cry
