Food is crucial part of daily life.
Why is it important to follow the recipe?

11.3.9.B: Identify the cause, effect and prevention of microbial
contamination, parasites and toxic chemicals in food.

management principles (e.g., time management, budgetary

During inquiry based learning, all seventh grade life skill students will
demonstrate that they are able to read a recipe card correctly with
100% accuracy.
Level 1- Students will be able to recognize the ingredient list and
direction list separately.
Level 2-Students will be able to make observations of how others
handle tools in the kitchen.
Level 3-Students will be able to assess whether the recipe was
successful.

Ingredients
1. 3 small bananas, mashed
2. 1/4c + 3tbs coconut flour
3. tsp. vanilla,
4. 4 tbs. mini chocolate chips

Directions
1. Mix mashed bananas, coconut flour, and vanilla together in a bowl.
2. Fold in chocolate chips.
3. Roll into desired size balls.
4. Keep refrigerated or frozen until ready to eat. If keeping in the freezer, allow
to thaw for 10-15 minutes before eating.
Package in baggies
While going through the recipe I will ask questions like: What do you
think would happen if we only put half of this in, or ask questions
about different types of products (ex. Different types of flour and how
some are healthier than others) Why do we package and put food
away? Etc.

Students will pick a piece of paper out of brown bag then go back to
desks by color shirt.

Each student picked a piece of paper out of the bag. There goal is to go
on the internet and find a recipe with that ingredient in it then share
with the class.
