Youre a Good Man Charlie Brown

The Musical Youre a Good Man Charlie Brown is a take from the original Charlie
Brown comic strips by Charles M. Shultz. This musical contains the original directors concept,
characters, and spectacle that Shultz created for all to love for generations to come. SLCCs
Black Box Theatre, in my opinion, did a good job with keeping the musical as close to the
original as possible. They also did a good job with making the production their own. I feel the
theme of this production is found in the music and sound of this musical. By discussing
Aristotles element of music and sound, I will illustrate how the theme of Happiness was brought
out.
To start off, the theme of Youre a Good Man Charlie Brown is found in the final song
of the production entitled, Happiness. Throughout the entire production the main character,
Charlie Brown, talks and sings about his poor little life and all of the issues he faces. In the final
song entitled Happiness, theres a line that says, Happiness is anyone and anything at all.
Music and sound is one of Aristotles many elements; by using this element one can find the
theme of the production. Happiness can be found through anyone or anything. Its simple and
easy so why not take the chance to be happy?
Going along with Aristotles element of music and sound, SLCCs Black Box Theatre, in
my opinion, did a good job with keeping the musical as close to the original as possible. They

also did a good job with making the production their own. All of the actors/actresses did a
wonderful job with singing; I didnt hear anyone sing off key throughout the performance. They
also were great at becoming their roles and embracing their inner child to be more believable.

anyone or anything. We need to be able to be happy easier because of this.
