Dear Mr. Hatley:

My name is Chelsea Schwark, and I am writing to apply for the eighth grade English teaching position at
Imagine Prep at Surprise this semester. I graduated in May from the in the Mary Lou Foulton Teachers
College at Arizona State University, where I majored in Secondary Education with Specialization in
English. I know my training from the iTeach program combined with my dynamic teaching style and
enthusiasm for English would allow me to fit perfectly into the Imagine Prep faculty.
Not counting student teaching, throughout my college career I participated in over 250 hours of rigorous
internship experiences in both middle and high schools all over the Valley, including one 75 hour
internship at Imagine Prep Surprise from August-December 2015 under my mentor, Lauren Meunier. I
instantly fell in love with Imagine when I was there due to its closely knit faculty, amazing student
population, and rigorous expectations for students. I was so impressed by the Cambridge standards that
the school uses due to its challenging benchmarks and relevancy to students lives. I believe that
relevancy and building off of students background knowledge and interests are paramount to true student
success. Moreover, I believe that no student is incapable of achieving success both in my classroom and
the real world. That philosophy combined with my extensive hands-on experiences and rigorous training
makes me confident in my abilities to lead students in their journey to lifelong achievement.
I have attached my resume to this document for your review. If you should have any questions or need
additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime either by phone or email. My
cell phone number is (928) 970-1320 and my email address is chelseaschwark@yahoo.com. Please know
that I am available to you 24/7 and am so excited about the prospect of joining your amazing faculty at
Imagine. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,

Chelsea Schwark

Dear Parents/Guardians:
My name is Chelsea Schwark, and I am so excited to be your students eighth grade English
teacher at Imagine Prep at Surprise this year! Before we begin the year, I wanted to take a
moment to introduce myself and to tell you a little bit about the course content and my plans for
the school year.
Eighth grade English is a class that combines elements of both English and Language Arts, so we
explore a little bit of everything from reading literature to functional and creative writing to
various aspects of speaking and listening. The students are evaluated using the Cambridge
Standards for Success, which can be found on the schools website. While all students are
required to take and pass the Cambridge year-end assessment, my class is not limited to that
single competency. Students in my class take very few tests because I do not feel they are always
completely accurate measures of assessment; however, I assess my students through creative
projects, various writing assignments, and interactive presentations. As a modern instructor, I
differentiate my instruction with proven strategies, new technologies, and collaborative grouping
to reach all different types of learners so that no student is ever left behind. Additionally, I build
off of my students prior knowledge and interests in order to make my content relevant to their
lives both now and in the future. I firmly believe that all students are capable of success in both
my classroom and in life, and I will always mentor your student with that philosophy in mind.
Please know that as parents/guardians, I encourage you to be an active participant in your
students learning. If you or your student ever have questions or concerns, I am always available
to you at (623) 545-5222 or chelseaschwark@imagine prep.com. Thank you for your time and
lets make this a great year!
Sincerely,

Chelsea Schwark

Dear Parents/Guardians of Phillip Milano,

I wanted to take a moment of to express how much fun it is to have Phillip in class. He is a very funny,
enthusiastic boy who is always excited to participate in class. The reason I am writing to you today,
however, is regarding a behavioral issue Phillip had in class today.
Ive been noticing lately that Phillip has been unusually quiet and moody. When I asked him about it in
private yesterday, he was very short with me and told me it was none of [my] damn business.
Furthermore, during group time today, Phillip slapped one of his groupmates when the groupmate was
peer reviewing his essay. That behavior was in direct violation of both my class and school rules, which
required an immediate referral to the principals office. The principal has decided to put Phillip on a
behavioral improvement plan to help get him back to his wonderful self, which will go into effect
tomorrow and will last for about two weeks, depending on Phillips behavior from here on out.
I wanted to let you know about this problem and the action we are taking because I know this not typical
of Phillips usual attitude in class. Hopefully the behavioral improvement plan will help correct the
problem and we will not have to discuss this again. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, I am
always available to you and Phillip at (623) 545-5222 or chelseaschwark@imagine prep.com. Thank you
for your time.
Sincerely,
Chelsea Schwark
