Texting without any Emotion
Throughout the year technology has improved and has benefited the people in many ways.
Technology has affected our social interactions but has benefited us to communicate with many
people from around the word in seconds. The people of today mainly use these social media cites
to communicate with one another instead of any person to person interaction. The effect
communication has with the emotion people provide in their texts or messages sent. These
messages being sent to one another has shown to provide less emotion and has become a
necessity to receive these messages from one another.
Communication has changed throughout the years that technology has started to grow and
improve rapidly. A discussion made in the Chandra Johnson article was the effect of a smile
versus text smile and mentioned, The problem is that that the more people and children interact
with a person or the real world through a screen rather than in real life, the less emotion is
attached to the exchange.("Face Time vs. Screen Time: The Technological Impact on
Communication). The people are become less emotionally involved in what they say in their text
and people type these texts without any provided emotion. People send a quick text without
realization behind the words that has been sent to one another. It may sound overly dramatic or
annoyed, mad or happy but it does not matter after the fact a text is sent. The substitute to get
more emotionally involved in a text are the Emojis. Emojis are not always enough to satisfy what
is really meant to be said because it is difficult to type down what is meant to be said into words.

The UCLA newsroom informed, UCLA scientists found that sixth-graders who went five
days without even glancing at a smartphone, television or other digital screen did substantially
better at reading human emotions than sixth-graders from the same school("In Our Digital
World, Are Young People Losing the Ability to Read Emotions?"). The children of today lose
tract of the emotion expressed with one another. The adults of today do not realize the cost
technology effects the children by the noninvolvement of emotional interaction of hands off the
screen. These children grow up to rely on the technology and they lose the feeling behind
peoples emotions due to the less social involvement. These kids have lost their social skills with
one another personally at a young age, as they start to develop and can affect them as they grow.
It was also mention in the report, Social interaction is needed to develop skills in understanding
the emotions of other people.("In Our Digital World, Are Young People Losing the Ability to
Read Emotions?"). It can be difficult to express emotion in a message, post, text, etc.
Technology is takes away the emotion we provide when we communicate with one another and
could be a problem later on. This can affect people that are only communicating through text or
social media because people do not know the person until they interact with them person to
person. People of today think that they know the person if they message each other every day
and these people do not realize that, emotion is important and that is unknown through the
technology of today.
In it all technology has improved our lives, provides things such as information easier to
gather online. On the debate website, many have mentioned that technology has helped us
communicate with one another very quickly. As technology has had an effect on the people it
was mentioned that, We do not blame fire for being hot, much like we should not blame
technology for our own lack of discipline.("Have Advances in Technology Improved Our Lives

or Are We Becoming Too Dependent?"). It has had its effect on the people but technology should
not be blamed for people not understanding there limits on communication with one another
though technology. The people of today take advantage of the fact of technology and has the
consumption of their social interactions. Technology has only improvised and build up the way
we want it but it should not consume our humanity as it has grown throughout the years to
improve the way people live today. People need to know that setting the limits on technology
today is a necessity or else it will consume every last bit of peoples humanity. It is also
considered in Buchanas article, It shouldnt be blamed on technology though, but peoples
inability to keep in touch with whats really important. ("Has Technology Affected Interaction
and Creativity? No, It Has Improved Our Lifestyle"). The technology of today has nothing to do
with the way people ignore the fact of person to person interaction. People have the control of
their lives and should be capable of putting the phone down, it is self-control. To blame
technology for something that the people can control is simply childish and technology has been
beneficial with the peoples creativity and right now people are misunderstanding the affect.
People are take advantage of technology in order to get by with what saves less time and is much
more effective to communicate with. The people are not realizing that technology is here to help
and improve society, not be taken advantage of.
Social media cites have improved and affected social communication with one another.
People now a days are having a difficult time with face to face interactions. It is mentioned that
the difference of urgency affects the difference of either a call than a text to someone is
mentioned in the article by Hayley Eastman, The use of other social media sites, such as
Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn has also skyrocketed, diminishing verbal
communication.("Communication Changes with Technology, Social Media"). There are many

tweets posted every day by each person and it seems to be their job to post something at least
every hour of everyday. It becomes out of habit that these people do what they do when they post
stuff online and it is needed for everyone in the world to know what someone is doing at least
every hour of every day, from morning to dawn. This effects the way one communicates with one
another, even if a person should text one another. It would be unnecessary to communicate with
someone and ask about their life, if they post their daily schedule online. The result of the
research conducted by Robert Kraut was that the internet affects the teenagers more since they
are online more than the adults and the family interaction with one another was stable.
Throughout the research, People who used the Internet more subsequently reported larger
increases in loneliness. Loneliness due to the fact that teenagers were mostly online instead of
person to person interaction. The research took into consideration the stress and depression of the
people who were in the experiment. Being online all day can affect the way a person perceives
themselves as they have not done anything productive. This can miss lead people and having
person to person interaction is significant to communication in todays society.
Furthermore, technology has had its effect on the people and takes away the emotion behind
what is really meant to be said. Technology has affected our social interactions but has benefited
us to communicate with many people from around the word in seconds. The people of today
chose to communicate in a way that is beneficial time wise or is common communication.
Technology can have its effect on adults, teens and children, it can become addictive to rely on
the communication through technology. Technology has affected our social interaction with one
another and taken away face to face communication. This will mislead people to lose their
emotion in their words and person to person communication can become misleading.
