Major to Career.
1. Planning puts you in charge and allows you to design your own future. What
does the Major to Career page provide for students?
The Major to Career page provides a list of majors that the university offers that a
student can choose from. When a student clicks on a major that they want to
pursue it will list what the major is about, why you should consider it, what are the
interests and values of the major, a list of career fields associated with that major
and links to learn more about the major. Its a great resources page that allows
students to do research and decide on what they want to do for a career and what
schooling they need to accomplish to get there.

2. Click on a major from the list that you might be interested in. What major is it?
Accounting
3. Look at the list of career fields related to this major and list at least five of them.

Complete the Personality, Interests and Values Self Assessments:

1. What is your personality type and do you agree with the description?
Introversion, sensing, feeling, and perceiving. I agree with the description of
my personality. It talks about how you must get to know me first before I
open up to you and for you to get my humor and that is so true. It also says
that I am sensitive, kind, helper and modest which all reflect me as well. I
love to help people and I am sensitive to others needs and wants.

2. What were your areas of interest? Enterprising which would be taking risk,
dealing with business, leading people, making decisions, starting and

carrying out a project. Realistic which would be hands on problems, solutions,

plants, animals, real world work, no paperwork and dont work with others.
Conventional which would be set procedures or routines, data, and has a
clear line of authority.
3. What values did the assessment identify that were most important to you?
Relationships, which allow employees to provide service to others and work
with co-workers in a friendly non-competitive environment. Support, which is
supportive management that stands behind employees. Working conditions,
which is job security, good-working conditions, and needs: activity,
compensation, independence, security, variety and working conditions.
4. What occupations matched all your personality, interests, and values?
How do you feel about these careers? Aircraft mechanics and service
technicians, amusement and recreational attendants, barber, barista, cook at
restaurant, dental assistant, dental hygienists, landscaping, surgical
technologists, etc. Some of the careers such as dental hygienists or assistant
interest me. I worked as a barista for over five years so that makes sense why
a barista matched. I loved being a barista, but I am not that interested in
making it a career.

IV. From the Career and Major Exploration page, click on

the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
1. What can students use this page for? This page can help a student decided what
career they want to go into based on pay, new jobs, fast growing and other
categories. They can click on a career and see what occupations go with that
category. There are so many options and students can do all kinds of research on
their interests and experience.
