Body of Lesson

After dinner is done, Ukrainians sing different

carols, a few of them in Ukrainian, and then go to
the midnight mass at church.
PHILLIPIENES
The People who live in the Philippines love to
celebrate Christmas as early as possible- and start
playing Christmas carols in September
The real celebration starts on the 16th of December,
when people go to 9 straight early morning masses,
the last one being on Christmas Day
The masses are called Misa de Gallo
Christmas is the most important holiday
Philippines doesnt get any snow!
People in the Philippines have traditions such as the
Parol which is a bamboo pole with a star lantern
on it.
It is made from bamboo strips and colored paper
It represents the star that led the three wise men to
see Jesus and is the mot important decoration
On Christmas eve, most people stay awake all night
and have a midnight feast to help celebrate
Christmas.
GERMANY
We all learned what Advent was yesterday, Advent
is extremely important in Germany
They use the Advent wreath in many different
houses to count down until the end of Advent.
Even more important to Germany are Christmas
treas. They were first used in Germany a very long
time ago. The mother of each family decorates the
tree as a surprise for the rest of the family.
The tree was not brought into the house until
Christmas eve, where the Family would read the
bible and sing Stille Nacht (silent Night.)
Presents in Germany are given on Christmas Eve.
Germany is also famous for their Glass ornaments
which are handmade in different stores.
In Germany, if youre badly behaved Santa brings
along Krampus, who puts birch from Birch trees
instead of Coal.
Students will then be given a sheet of paper to draw a
tradition that their family does on Christmas, or if they cant
remember, one that they have heard about that they would
find interesting to try.
