ORBITAL MECHANICS:

SIR ISAAC NEWTON

BY: ETHAN, GARRETT, JOSH, DEVON

THE LIFE OF SIR ISAAC NEWTON

On December 25th, 1642, Newton was born prematurely on Christmas morning, in
Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire. He was expected to die before the day was over.
He loved mechanics and technology. Newton enrolled at Trinity College, Cambridge.
His professors steered him away from standard graduate text and towards calculus
which would be instrumental in explaining how the universe operated. He found
great pleasures in the works of men like Descartes; a scientist who argued that the
Universe was governed by mechanical laws.
Newton passed away in his sleep in London on 20 March 1727.
Fun fact: Newton claimed his dog set his laboratory on fire, ruining 20 years of
research. Some historians believed Newton didnt even have a dog. Nevertheless,
this is the story Newton told others.

SIR ISAAC NEWTON

Isaac Newton tended to be a self sufficient man. He was never married but according
to some sources, Newton was engaged. Other internet readings portray the ideas that
Newton never had a relationship life. While examining a few of Newtons family trees
and the fact that he never married, its safe to assume that Newton had no claimed
children. While perusing the internet, most sources claim that Newton worked
alongside many other men and had deep friendships with these men. Since Newton
never married to a women, another cause of this may be because he could have been
homosexual. Although some sources may seem more reliable than others, we will
continue to ponder the true facts about Newtons romantic life.

ORBITAL MOTION: NEWTONS

CONTRIBUTION
Orbital Motion - motionof an object in an orbit around a fixed point.
Orbital Motion has, up until the last century, been a controversial topic widely
discussed among the science community. Many head honchos of the science culture,
like Copernicus, Aristotle, even Kepler, have all contributed their minds, bodies, and
souls to Orbital Motion. Our very own Sir Isaac Newton has contributed to the base
foundations within the theory of Orbital Motion. With the creation of his universal law
of gravitation, he was able to alter the way Orbital Mechanics are viewed today.

NEWTONS
UNIVERSAL LAW OF
GRAVITATION
Newton's law of universal gravitationstates that any two bodies in the
universe attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product
of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between
them.
With this gravitational equation, scientist are able to calculate the force of
gravitational attraction between two objects of known mass and known distance of
separation.

CRITICISM OF NEWTONS WORK

The farther back in history you go, the harder it is to convince people using
scientific facts. This is because of the large religious culture that everyone has. If
you tried to tell the Egyptians that the sun went down because or planet rotated,
not because Ra moved it, you would probably be killed. With Newton, it wasnt so
drastic, but it was still early in the time of space studies. He rivaled against other
great minds like Robert Hooke and Gottfried Leibniz, always trying to prove one or
the other wrong. Some people didnt think Newtons laws were real, probably due
to there religious backgrounds.
