Life Calling Curriculum

November 2015

Teaching materials are being developed by curriculum writers to provide a variety of

workshop options for educators in instructing students, staff, and faculty on the life calling
model, processes, and self discovery. These shorter versions of a semester-long Life Calling
course will enable faculty a better integration into existing curriculums.

Co-Curriculum Learning

A co-curricular transcript is now available to students in order to encourage them to build their
experiences outside the classroom. Co-curricular programming and promotion is now housed
by a customized software program which assists student groups in documenting student
participation and provides a social media platform.

Internships

75 internships have been funded by the Lilly Endowment grant providing students direct
experience working with a new business start-up and providing Indiana start-ups with a
financial boost to their new business.

The Refinery

Indiana Wesleyan led the way to bring a co-working space to Grant County through a
partnership with the Grant County Community Foundation and permission to redirect a portion
of Lilly Endowment funding. Students will be provided opportunities to intern with business
start-ups or start businesses themselves. 20 student memberships to The Refinery were
provided through entrepreneurial scholarships.

Experience Indiana

March 21-24, 2016 - Indiana Wesleyan University will host "EXPERIENCE INDIANA," a
celebration of Indiana opportunities. Each day will draw in Indiana employers, Indiana
vendors, Indiana artists, IWU alumni, veterans, and provide students with exciting reasons
to live and work in Indiana!

Entrepreneurial Certificate

A Lilly - DeVoe entrepreneurship certificate program will become a centerpiece of a larger IWU
Regional pilot initiative focused on developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership
in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and change. The entrepreneurship certificate courses
are designed to integrate our mission and values within an experiential/case study/simulation
approach.

Faculty Field Trip Grant

$45,000 in field trip funding has been dispersed to Indiana Wesleyan faculty for travel and meals
in order to take students on educational and recreational field trips that promote Indiana to
students as a great place to live and work!

Career Consulting

Career Development continues to prov students assistance with resumes, interviewing skills,
LinkedIn profiles, and job search strategies. The new first floor kiosk is an easy stop for students
to begin their career development journey.
