sand(builderssand,ifitisveryclean),toonepartmasonrycement.Addwatertothe
drymaterialsandmixtoaconsistencylikepudding.Toodry,anditwillbedifficultto
"set"thebrickinthemortarbed,toowetandthebrickwillsag.

Brushthefaceofthebrickwitha"foxtail"brushtowipeawayexcess
mortarandfinishsmoothingthejoint.Ittakesalotofpracticetobeableto

tellwhenthemortarissetproperlytostrikeandbrushthejoints,butbasically,whenit
ishardenoughtotouchwithyourfingerandnotleaveanimpression,itisready.
