5. When and why did you choose your career path? I transitioned too design architect when I was about 40 years
old. Having 15 years of experience within the field of architecture I was more than qualified to shift from project
architecture into the realm of design.

design and layout; thus, my primary role within the company is too brainstorm and design an interesting and
appealing exterior image which attracts/ satisfies customers.
8. Describe your physical work environment. Most of my work is done at our office, I really dont get out as often as
I used to unless the Construction Admin. has any questions.
9. What is your favorite part of your job? In my field I am looked up to as the grandmaster as I have been in the
field for the longest and have the most experience in not only my current field but in other lower level positions as
well.

13. Describe the two courses that you considered most challenging.

likely my hardest class in grad school due to its similarities to the graduation project I completed at the end of High
School, The second was my Architecture design elective which was due to the teachers aid that taught the class who
was an insufferable prick.

14. What resources did your school have available to help you get through the most difficult courses?

while studying at NCSU and I believe was what got me through my Architecture design elective.
15. Regarding the two most challenging courses, how did you persevere? Through sheer determination and the fact
that both were in my final semester of grad school. I couldnt fail then!

Architect Registration Exam which was provided by the State. This was required before I could begin practicing my
profession in NC.
19. How would your clients and co-workers describe you? Old. The main joke that cycles through the office every
day is when the old man arrives. But in all seriousness they would probably describe me as a slow and steady
individual focused on task at hand.
20. What do you hope to accomplish at the conclusion of your career? To have designed all that I can and be able see
my works when I drive around town.
21. Why should a high school student consider a career in your field? What important contribution(s) can they
make? A high school student who loves to design, build and has a love for the way things complement each other
than architecture is certainly one to consider. That being said they should keep in mind that the field itself is
COMPETITIVE and requires experience and ingenuity above anything else.

Conclusion
1. You described a career related to civil engineering and/or architecture. Is this the career field that you are
currently most interested in at this stage in your life? I am not currently interested in entering into the field of
architecture. My current aspirations are to go to college for either business or some form of engineering and then
later go to Law School.

1.) Location: Where is the school? Do you like the people? The campus? The weather?

2.) What are you majoring in: Do they have your degree? Will you be receiving a QUALITY education? What
opportunities will you have to grow and gain real world experience?
3.)What are the financials like: What is the cost? How much student debt are you likely to accumulate? How much
are you willing to accumulate?

Design Architects, when successful, are compensated well for their toils. However, that takes time and a lot of
competition to arrive at that point.
