InmyfirstyearatLVCPasafreshmanIhavebeenabletoacademicallybeintroducedto
theESLRs,alsoknowastheexpectedschoolwidelearningresults.ThesixESLRsareableto
helpmeand,thestudents,tounderstandwhatwewanttodotostrivetosuccess.Sofarthisyear,
IhavenoticedthateveryprojectisbasedofonsomeofoneoftheESLRs.Inmylearning
experiencesofarasafreshmanofLVCP,Iamveryflexibletolearningthingsinanewway.I
mostlyliketotakenotesoveranymaterialsthatIlearnandcompletethehomeworkthatdaywe
getthemrightafterschool.DoingmyhomeworkassoonaspossiblehelpsmememorizewhatI
needtoknowfasterandinamoreefficientway.TheESLRshaveacademicallyshownmehow
theyarerelatedtoeveryprojectthatwecompletehavecompleted.

InthefutureIwouldliketostudyRadiologybutmoreimportantlyUltrasound
Technology.MycarreerpathmayfollowmegoingtoauniversitywhereIamabletostudywhile
gettinganintershiptobeabletogetmoneyforahomeandcollege.SofarthisfreshmanyearI
feellikeIamquitepreparedtogotocollegebutmyrequirementsforgraduationaregradually
beingmet.Inmyadvisoryclasswewereassignedtocompleteamandalawithanessay
correspondingtoit.Themandalawassupposetodescribeyouandyourpersonalitywithonly
usingfivesymbols.Thosesymbolsweresupposetobeabletoillustratemeandshowotherswho
Ireallyam.Ithinkthesignificanceofthisprojectwastohelpusdiscoverwhowetrulyareand
helpusfigureoutwhowewanttobeintofuture.TheMandalaprojectwasabletoshowme

progresshasgraduallyexceededbecauseoftheafterschoolactivitiesIhavebeentakingpartof.
TomanagemytimebetterItrytoplanoutmyprojectsandassignments.Imakeduedatesand
timelinesonmycalendartobettercoordinatemyselfandgetprojectsdoneassoonasIcan.In
mybiologyclassmyteacherdesignatedaprojectinwhichwewereinchargeofcreating
foldablesaboutthechapterofevolutionbasedonDarwin.Atthebeginoftheweekwehadto
createthefoldablesandcompletethemthroughouttheweekonourowntime.Thereismany
responsibilitythatyouhaveuponyourselfbecauseofallthefoldablesyouhavecompleteinjust
acertainamountoftime.Theprojectingeneraltaughthowtouseyourtimeefficientlyandtake
responsibilityofprojectsthathavemanymanystepsbutonlyoneduedatetolookupon
.

Communicationiskeywhenitcomestoprojectsorpartneredupassignments.In
freshmanyearmycommunicationwithpeopleandaudienceswerelackingatfirstbutasthe
monthspastIhavebeencommunicatingmoreandnowIamabletogetbetteratpublic
speakingandlearnhowtointeractwithotherpeopleandaudiences.Whenbeinginschool,
communicationisusedIinteractwithpeoplewhenitisnecessary.Forexampleinprojectsorin
classactivitieswhenyouhavetoworkwithapartner.Communicationwasusedalotinmy
bullyingprojectformyhealthclass.Withthepeoplethatweworkedwellwithandother
studentswedidntreallytalktoorassociatewith,wehadtocreateabullyingvideoonhowto
act/howtonotactwhenyouorothersaregettingbullied.Withthedevelopmentofpossibleideas

myclassmatesandIlearnedtoadjusttoeachotherdecisionsandtrytocreateavideowhichhad
contributedideasandthoughtsofourown.Thisvideoassignmenttaughtmeandothersto
communicateandlearnthingsfromeachotherfromsimplycollaborating.

ThinkingCriticallywasprobablyoneofthehardestyeteasiestofallESLRsthis
semester.ThisESLRwastobeshownthroughvariousassignmentsandprojects.Althoughall
assignmentsandprojectsfitunderthiscategorybecauseduringyourwholeentireschoolyear
youareabletoaccomplishanythingifyoujustthinkcriticallyaboutthequestionyouarebeing
asked.Inmymathclassmyteacherassignedtousaprojectinwhichwehadtodoresearchon
thegoldenratioandfindanobjectthatcouldberepresentedbyit.Theobjectcouldbeinnature,
food,ortechnology,itwasalluptoyou.Idecidedtodoarose.Theobjectivewastoseeifthe
objectyouchoosewasagoodportrayalofthegoldenratio.Ichoosetoplacethegoldenratio
spiralabovetheroseandseeiftherosewasactuallyagoodrepresentationofthegoldenratio.
We,asthestudentshadtothinkwhatequationtouse.IforexampleIusedscalefactortoseeif
therosesspiralandthegoldenratiospiralwereequivalenttoeachother.Bothofthespirals
wereverysimilarandtheroseturnsouttobeagreatrepresentationofthegoldenratio.This
projectwasbasedonthinkingcriticallywithusingtheformulasyoulearnedfromthroughoutthe
entireschoolyear.

Mycreativesenseshavemajorlyexpandedsincethelastsemester.Iamnowableto
thinkofdifferentwaysofdoingassignmentsandbemorecreativewithprojects.Ialwaystryto
seeifIcandosomethingdifferentfromeveryoneelseonprojectssothatmineismoreunique

andhavemoreofmyowntechnique.Inmyenglishclasswehadtheoptionofcreatingavideo,a
book,oranreenactmentoftheplay

.Mygroupdecidedtomakeavideo
reenactingthelasttragicsceneoftheplay.Beforewestartedtomakeourvideowehadtowritea
narrativeandascript.ThescripthastodoinElizabethanEnglish.Theobjectivewastobeable
tomakeanalternativeversionoftheplayinwithourowncreativeending.Inmystory/video
PariswouldkillRomeoandwhenJulietwouldawakensehwwouldkillParisandneverbeable
toloveherdearsweetRomeoallbecauseofParis.Inthisprojectwehadtothinkoutsidethebox
andonourowncreateeverything.

SinceIhavefirststartedhighschoolIwasintroducedtoanewwayoflearningusing
technology.MytechnologicalskillshavebeengreatlyexpandedsinceIhavefirststartedthe
schoolyear.Iamnowabletousealmostallkindsofwebsites.WheneverIhavetheoptiontouse
amorecomplexformofanassignment.Forexample,whentheteachersaywemustcreatea
googlepresentationbutwecanalsouseanotherformofpresentationslikepreziIuseit.This
semesterIhadusedspreadsheetsonvariouswebsitesandformsofallsorts.Inmybiologyclass
wewereassignedtofindabiologicalengineeredprojectonlineandcreateanonlineposterforit.
Idecidedtoresearchonthehumangrowthhormonewhichisabletobereproducedoutsidethe
body.Theobjectivetomyperspectivewastolearnabouttheprojectsthatarebeingengineered
andtoknowwhatsiteshavetobestinformationwithaccurateanswers.Thestayingcurrent
ESLRwasabletoshowmewhatsitestotrustandaremorereliableforprojectssuchasthe
HumanGrowthHormoneprojectinBiology.

As,acommunitymemberofLVCP,Ihavehelpalotaroundthecultureandparticipated
inmanyactivitiesLVCPhastooffer.TobecomearesourcefullearnerIwanttotrynewformsof
studyingandtryingdifferentmethodsofcompletingtasks.Mygreatestcollaborationthisyear
wastakingpartinlotsofgroupprojectsandhelpingothersinthegroupthatIwaspartof,and
contributingtomyteammatesasmuchaspossible.AlthoughIfeellikeIhavemetallthe
requirementsforeachandeveryESLRpersonallyIwanttobeabletosucceedmoreintheStay
CurrentandthethinkcriticallyESLRSofar,themostmemorablememoryofthisyearismy
participationasanactoranddancerofthefirstevermusicalofLVCP,You'reAGoodMan,
CharlieBrown.
