CONFLICT

Derived from a Latin word Conflicts which means strike


two things at the same time.
According to Colman A conflict is the anticipated
frustration entailed in the choice of either alternative.

Types of
Conflicts:
1. Approach-approach conflict
People are attracted about equally to two goals (needs,
actions, events) . But carrying out one goal means to back
off from the other .

Example:
You have to choose between buying a car or traveling to
America.

2.Avoidance avoidance conflict.


When a person is being digusted by two goals (needs, actions) and
obliged to select one

Example:
Person has to decide will he clean the room or will he wash
the dishes. People are likely to waver between the unpleasant
alternatives and effort to escape from the conflict altogether.

3.Single approach-avoidance conflict


When a person is attracted to and repelled by one goal. These conflicts
also are difficult to resolve and generates much anxiety.

Example:
A luxurious car is costly. Should I have the dentist take care of
my cavity?

4.Double approach-avoidance conflicts


It has two goals, each with good and bad points.This kind of conflicts are
anxiety-provoking and hard to resolve.

Example:
Should I go out with Agne or lina? Agne is intelligent but hard to talk
while Lina is talkative but simple.

Preventing Conflict How to avoid


Conflict ?
Before starting any conflict one should take some time out
to think, How will this fight benefit me? Is it going to
provide me any solution ?

First learn to keep a control on your emotions.

Effective communication goes a long way in preventing


conflicts
A small sorry can work wonders and prevent conflicts and
unnecessary tensions.
