HOW TO DOWNLOAD A SCIENTIFIC PAPER

The first thing I have to tell you is This thing is legal, you can do it
without any fear of law violations, and you can share it widely to other
people, especially students.

Why do we need to know this thing?

Because we love science, we like doing researches. . .

Pic. 1

But we are . . .

Pic. 2
We cant afford to buy science papers to read and research. So thats
the reason why we need to know this trick.
Now, lets start !

The first thing we have to do when we need a paper is : SEARCH.

1. Search in http://scholar.google.ru first !
There are 2 situations when you search paper in scholar.google.ru
a. Free access
It means you can get that paper free. Check the following example.
I wanna download a paper named Coexistence mechanisms for
interference mitigation between IEEE 802.11 WLANs and
Bluetooth. Ill put that name in scholar.google.ru and get the result
like pic. 3

Pic. 3
You can see a link to download free that paper as I showed in
picture 3.
b.If there is not a link for free download
It means you cannot download it by scholar.google.ru. In this case,
you need the original source of that paper. In order to get to the
original source, you just need to click on the link on the left, see pic
4.

Then use steps 4, 5, 6, 7 to download it.

2. Search in google.com to get original source

Original source is place where paper is published. For example :

+ ieeexplore.ieee.org
+ link.springer.com
+ sciencedirect.com
+ willey
.
All thing we should do is put the name of paper in google and find
the link which looks like above list of original source. Original
source for the paper in 1.a. is :
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?tp=&arnumber=1019304&url=http%3A
%2F%2Fieeexplore.ieee.org%2Fxpls%2Fabs_all.jsp%3Farnumber%3D10193
04

Why do we need to know original source ? Because from this

information we can use following steps to download a paper for
free.

3. DOI number:

DOI stands for Digital Object Identifier . We dont need to know

the meaning of DOI number, we just know : If we have a DOI
number of paper we can get that paper (not 100%).

+ For ieeexplore.ieee.org

+ For link.springer.com

+ For sciencedirect.com

4. Use DOI number to download paper

+ Copy DOI number
+ Put DOI number to the link (after =) :
http://libgen.org/scimag/get.php?doi=
or put in http://libgen.org/scimag/
You can download almost papers (70% I think) by this way. If
nothing happens after that, it means you cannot download it by this
way.
For example : We need to download this paper
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S18744907140004
57
=> http://libgen.org/scimag/get.php?doi=10.1016/j.phycom.2014.04.009

5. Use sci-hub.org (THE MOST IMPORTANT)

If step 4 doesnt work, let use step 5. I can assure that 99% it
works. And 99.99% it works for ieee.
You just need to copy DOI number or even the link of original
source (link of paper) and then paste to sci-hub.org and GO.
For more details, you can watch this video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkWlgfvMy8k
Notice: sometime, sci-hub doesnt work properly, you should try
to download at other time, or refresh it many times, or change
proxies ( There is a button to change the proxies in sci-hub.org,
check it out yourself please) .
6. Use university proxy:
If you think : Oh, I dont like those ways, everyone knows it, I
dont feel I look like a superman ^_^, so the step 6 will help you
become different from people who know step 4,5. You will feel that
you are professional in downloading scientific papers ))))) And we
use this step when we wanna download many papers, not only 1
paper.
In fact, step 5 is a way of using university proxy.
Why can university proxy help us ?
As you know, almost universities on over the world often buy
database or papers from original sources every year. If you work,
study in the campus of those universities, you can use computer
with IP of those universities to download those papers for free. And
now, we are going to find out those proxies so that we can
download papers from database of those universities at home.
+ Step 1 : Find proxy list.
For example : http://www.dailyfreehma.com/
http://proxylist.hidemyass.com/premium/
..
Or easer : Download software HMAPremium

https://cloud.mail.ru/public/07f51ff2fe54/HMAPremium.rar
Set up it and then copy proxy list from it. Remember : at first copy
proxies list to word file, it helps you find a special proxy later easily.
+ Step 2 : Open software ipnetinfo
You can download here :
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/b36ca746be47/ipnetinfo.zip
+ Step 3 : Copy all proxies you have to ipnetinfo like following
picture (dont worry when you copy all page, dont worry about
texts, numbers, pictures. Just ctrl+A and copy all things on proxy
page, then paste ipnetinfo. Ipnetinfo will filter proxies for you. )

+ Step 4 : Let program check all proxies

Green nodes mean ok !

+ Step 5 :

Ctrl+F and type uni or edu or academic . To find university

proxies. I often use uni, it is enough.
Remember : You need to modify app ipnetinfo a little bit. There are
2 important fields : IP address and Owner Name, make them stay
together like my picture please.
+ Step 6 :

When you see a situation as I highlighted in the picture it means

that proxy is a university proxy.
Another example:

+ Step 7 : After find out it, you copy IP address in IP address field,
then open the word file in step 1 and find corresponded port of that
IP. => You have a university proxy.
For example : 115.154.225.119:8585 (It works !!! I checked it but it
may die after a definite time)
+ Step 8 : Open a browser (firefox,chrome,ie.) I often use firefox.
Put that proxy in browser, then open original source link on that
browser. If your are lucky => that proxy works => you can
download papers. But please remember : Not all university buy
needed databases, so sometime proxy works normally but you still
cannot download paper. In that case, please find another
university proxy and try again. Be patient !
For details how to use proxy in browser you can check this video
(if you dont know)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJn9efvSmMo
Notice: If you find out a work proxy, just remember : that proxy will
not work for a long time. After some days, weeks it will die. And

you need to find another one to use.

Demo : with 115.154.225.119:8585 that I found a moment ago.

You can see : Now I am accessing from Xian Jiaotong University

^_^ and Full Text as PDF for me there. I can download it ^_^
Oi oi oi I feel professional ^_^ I am a hacker =))))))))
Another demo : try this link with and without university you can see
difference
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1389128606
003021
+ Without university proxy

+ With university proxy

So what do you think now?

Like that?

I hope so . . .

7. Other methods
a. http://www.freepapers.ir/
This is a database from Iran. Its very strong and you can
download many papers from :
+ ieee
+ springer
+ ScienceDirect
+ JSTOR
+ Taylor & Francis Journals (www.tandfonline.com)
+ Wiley online Library
+ ASCE Library (ASCE)
+ Informs Journals
+ Emerald Insight
+ nature.com
+ SAGE journals
+ Oxford Journals Archive
+ ACM Digital Library
+ ACS Publications
+ AJPE
. More
But the drawback of this method is : you can download only 3
papers/ 6 hours / 1 proxy and you need to use 1 proxy from Iran to
download. (But if you use many different proxies from IRAN you
can download as many as you want)
+ Step 1 : Find a work proxy from Iran
Check in this site : http://spys.ru/free-proxy-list/IR/ (or other sites
on google)
+ Step 2 : Use that proxy in firefox (chrome)
+ Step 3 : Open freepapers.ir in that browser
+ Step 4 : Copy and paste link of paper (original source) to it then
GO
+ Step 5 : Enter captcha (click I am not a robot) and Download
Demo: I am going to download this paper

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S13891286060030
21
I will use proxy 46.209.70.76:8080 that I found on site :
http://proxylist.hidemyass.com/search-1299269#listable

b. Search in http://citeseer.ist.psu.edu/index
c. Search in my google search machine that I made myself

HOW TO DOWNLOAD EBOOKS

1. Check whether that book exists in form of ebook or not

Notice : This is for a English ebooks, but not for all books in
Russian language
+ Step 1 : Go to worldcat.org and put the name of book there,
then GO
+ Step 2 : Click on ebook
If there is a ebook like picture, it means that ebook exists on
internet. You can download it (not 100%)

+ Step 3: Open that link of ebook

When you open the link you can see as in picture

Find a copy online : means there are sources where you can
download the ebook
Find a copy in the library: means there are libraries where you
can get that book.
But in my opinion you cannot download ebook by this way. Just
use it to check whether that ebook exists or not !

2. Use libgen.org
Site libgen.org is a really very very very big database where you
can find your needed ebook.
+ Step 1 : Go to libgen.org
+ Step 2 : Type the name of ebook or authors on search
place and GO
+ Step 3 and 4 are in pictures
For example I am going to find ebook : Zigbee Wireless
Networking of Drew Gislason

Just click on Libgen.org or Bookfi.org. as in picture so you

can download that ebook.
For more details please check this video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIUONvS2oEw

3. Use my google search machine for ebooks that I made

myself
It works good for English and Russian ebooks

SUMMARY
There are more ways to download ebooks and papers, for
example : use university database through ezproxy , but it is
a little bit difficult and not necessary indeed.
I hope it is useful for you and hope you like it !
