Prophecies

1. Messiah would be born from a virgin
Old Testament: Isaiah 7:14
New Testament: Matthew 1:22-23 (The angel of the Lord appeared in Josephs
dream and tell him that Mary is having the Holy Spirit in her womb)
2. Messiah is a descendant of Abraham
Old Testament: Genesis 12:3
New Testament: Romans 9:5 (In Pauls letter, he explained that Jesus is a descendant
of Abraham)
3. Messiah would be born in Jerusalem
Old Testament: Micah 5:3
New Testament: Matthew 2:1 (Mary and Joseph name their baby Jesus, and He was
born in Bethlehem)
4. Messiah would come from the tribe of Judah
Old Testament: Genesis 49:10
New Testament: Luke 3:33 (When Jesus started His ministry, He was about 30 years
old and He was assumed to be as a part of the Judah)
5. Messiah would be called Immanuel
Old Testament: Isaiah 7:14
New Testament: Matthew 1:23 (Many years before Jesus was born, Isaiah foretold
about Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, and He wrote that Jesus will be named Immanuel)
6. Messiah would spend a period of time in Egypt
Old Testament: Hosea 1:11
New Testament: Matthew 2:14-15 (Herod was planning to kill all baby under 2
because he was afraid that someone will replace his position as The King of the
Earth. Jesus went to Egypt in order to survive.)
7. Messiah would be the heir of King Davids throne
Old Testament: Isaiah 9:7
New Testament: Romans 1:13 (Jesus is one of the descendant of king David.)
8. Messiahs kingdom will be anointed and remain eternal
Old Testament: Daniel 2:44
New Testament: Luke 1:33 (God sent Gabriel to Mary to tell that shes having the
Holy Spirit in her womb. Gabriel told Mary her baby, which is the Messiah that His
kingdom will be eternal.)
9. A messenger would prepare the way to Messiah
Old Testament: Isaiah 40:3-5
New Testament: Luke 3:3-6 (John the Baptist preached the message about the
Kingdom of God and he cleansed people from sins by baptising them)

10. Messiah would be rejected by His own people


Old Testament: Isaiah 53:3
New Testament: John 1:11 (Jesus entered the world; the place He made yet people
didnt recognise Him and rejected Him)
11. Messiah would be the prophet
Old Testament: Deuteronomy 18:15
New Testament: Acts 3:20-22 ( God sent Jesus to Earth. Moses The Eternal One
your God will raise up from among your people a prophet who will be like me)
12. Messiah would be declared the Son of God
Old Testament: Psalm 2:7
New Testament: Matthew 3:16-17 (When Jesus was Baptised, and as soon as He got
out from the water, a voice from Heaven was heard. It says, This is My Son, whom I
love; this is the Apple of My eye; with Him I am well pleased)
13. Messiah would be called a Nazarene
Old Testament: Isaiah 11:1
New Testament: Matthew 2:23 (Joseph, Mary, and Jesus ran away to find a safe
place. This town in Nazareth, the Prophets have taught, The Savior will be a
Nazarene.)
14. Messiah would bring light to Galilee
Old Testament: Isaiah 9:1-2
New Testament: Matthew 4:13-16 (Jesus went back to Galilee to fulfil one of the
prophecies in Isaiah, it is Him, the Light who dwelt in the shadowy darkness of
death.)
15. Messiah would speak in parables
Old Testament: Psalm 78:2-4
New Testament: Matthew 13:34-35 (Jesus teaches the crowd in parables. He did that
to fulfil the prophecies in the book of Psalm)
16. Messiah would ascend to heaven.
Old testament: Psalm 24:7-10
New testament: Mark 16:19
Jesus work on earth have been completed and its time for him to go back to His
place. Jesus ascended into heaven.
17. Messiah will be sacrificed for human sins.
Old testament: Isaiah 53:5-12
New testament: Romans 5:6-8
Jesus was tortured and crucified on the cross to erase and forgive all human sins.
18. Messiah will be resurrected from the dead.
Old testament: Psalm 49:15
New testament: Matthew 28:2-7

After three days, the tomb was empty and Jesus was resurrected. He have defeated
death.
19. Messiah would pray for his enemies.
Old testament: Psalm 109:4
New testament: Luke 23:34
While the people was torturing and crucifying Jesus, he prayed to God: Father,
forgive them, for they dont know what theyre doing.
20. Messiah would be hated without cause.
Old testament: Psalm 35:19
New testament: John 15:24-25
Instead of being guilty of their sin, people looked at Jesus in the face and hated him.
21. Messiah would be crucified with criminals.
Old testament: Isaiah 53:12
New testament: Matthew 27:38
On Golgotha, Jesus was crossed not alone but surrounded with 2 criminals on His
left and His right.
22. Messiah would be betrayed.
Old testament: Psalm 41:9
New testament: Luke 22:47-48
Judas, one of Jesus closest disciples gave up Jesus to the religious authorities for 30
pieces of silvers and gave Jesus a kiss.
23. Messiah would be called King.
Old testament: Psalm 2:6
New testament: Matthew 27:37
On the cross, a sign was placed above His head which says: This is Jesus, King of
the Jews.
24. Messiah would be mocked and ridiculed.
Old testament: Psalm 22:7-8
New testament: Luke 23:35
As Jesus was crucified, the authorities mocked at Jesus questioning him if Hes the
King who are suppose to save people.
25. Messiah would be forsaken by God.
Old testament: Psalm 22:1
New testament: Matthew 27:46
Jesus was on the cross, being mocked, people told Him that if Hes really the King,
why dont he save himself. Then Jesus called God, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthaniMy
God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
26. Messiah would be silent before his accusers.
Old testament: Isaiah 53:7
New testament: Mark 15:4-5

Priests accuse Jesus of many things in front of Pilate, but Jesus didnt fought back
but kept quite.
27. Messiah would be anointed by the Holy Spirit
Old testament: Psalm 45:7
New testament: Matthew 3:16
After Jesus was baptised, the heaven opened and the spirit of God came upon Him.
28. Messiah would be seated at God's right hand.
Old testament: Psalm 68:18
New testament: Mark 16:19
After Jesus ascended, He was placed at Gods right hand
29. Messiah's hands and feet would be pierced.
Old testament: Psalm 22:16
New testament: John 20:25-27
After the resurrection, Jesus showed his pierced hand to make Thomas believe that
Jesus have risen from the dead.
30. Messiah would be called Jesus.
Old testament: Isaiah 12:2
New testament: Matthew 1:21
The Baby is named after Jesus which means the Lord saves
