INTRODUCTION :
Change in style, manner, and behavior are defined as "FASHION".
It is basically a state of anything with regard to its appearance, shape, style or pattern.
Fashion is leans of your freedom, identity, individuality ideas. Fashion sometimes becomes trendy & in sense
it is the prevailing mode or customary style.
In the past, especially before the industrial revolution, fashion evolved so slowly that one could not
recognize its change throughout the life. At that time fashion means a (special manner of marketing clothes
However nothing is static in the world; everything changes with time.
The beginning of the machine age in the 19th century brought about a re-assessment in the values, which did
not leave clothes& their social functions untouched.
In today's highly industrialized & urbanized society, fashion changes 'so fast that it is very difficult to even
recognize .what the current trend is.
WHAT IS FASHION?
The human body is the basis of all fashion. Every epoch develops its own aesthetic of the ideal human shape.
A fashion is meant to be copied by everyone but paradoxically, the fashionably dressed individual expects to
stand in a crowd.

INTRODUCTION ABOUT NIFT:
Established by the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in the year 1986. The National Institute of Fashion
Technology (NIFT) has emerged as a premier training institute in the country to train the professionals
to meet the requirements of the apparel industry.
The Institute is a college of Design, Management and Technology catering to the needs of rapidly
growing ready-made garment industry, which has to meet the challenges of the global market.

NIFT JODHPUR:
NIFT Jodhpur, the most recent centre, was established in 2010. Located in the heart of the Sun city, it
presently operates from a heritage building (Transit campus) situated inside the Sojati Gate.
The courses being offered at present include specialization in two disciplines of BACHELOR OF
FASHION TECHNOLOGY AT THE UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL AND MASTER OF FASHION
MANAGEMENT AT THE POST GRADUATE LEVEL.
The total intake in Bachelor course is 35 student and for Post Graduate level is 32 students.

NEED AND VALIDITY OF PROJECT:
GANDHIJI even before independence Introduced the SWADESHI" a "BOYCOTT" movements. This
was done to in herist a sense of swadeshi dressing which had its own exception right from the Indus valley
civilization
India has its own staple of production & designing of textile which is art of the best qualities of Indian life
style from khadi industry Considering the readymade garment expert & the potential in this fashion business .
The fashion industry in India has been identified as a sector for very substantial job opportunities that it was
generated through at the country. But the security of specialized manpower has become a major constraint
for this sector of industry.
There is a high international demand for Indian raw materials ,skilled artisan lab our, it has become
imperative for India to continue to have a hold in international market.
The Proposed Institute of Fashion technology would make the above things happen by providing requisite
training a thereby generating experts professionals in the fields of design, technology & management of
business related to fashion which is netting so much foreign exchange for the country.

GROWTH OF THE FASHION
INDUSTRY INDIA:

The Indian fashion industry has experienced

significant expansion in the last decade.
Between 2008-2012 , the Indian Fashion
industry is expected to grow 178% and reach
USD 189MM by 2012.
The growth of the Indian fashion industry is
highlighted by the increase in large fashion
events ( from 1 in 2004 to 5 in 2008).
Consumers spending on fashion products has
grown at 7.1% annually from 2002 through
2007.

KEY GROWTH DRIVERS:

The Indian fashion industry has gained
international acclaim and recognition at
several global forums.
According to the NELSEN GLOBAL
LUXURY BRANDS STUDY India is among
the most brand conscious countries in the
world , with 35% of Indian survey
respondents reporting to buy designer
brands.

SITE INFORMATION:
The New Proposed Site for NIFT in Rajasthan is in
Jodhpur city, THE SUN CITY.
The proposed site for NIFT JODHPUR is located on the
outskirts of JODHPUR CITY, around 24kms away from
city on NH-65 near KARWAR village on NAGAUR
HIGHWAY.

APPROACH:
Railway station = 25Kms
Airport = 30 Kms
Bus Stand= 25Kms.

WHY IN JODHPUR ?
Jodhpur was one of the major and famous city for its
textile industry.
The near by places like PALI and BALOTRA are the
major hub of textile industry in this area.
One of the biggest composite textile mill of India
'Maharaja Shri Umaid mills' (Estd. in the year 1940) is
also situated at PALI.
Their are around 150 textile unit and 1000 handicraft
unit Jodhpur district.

ABOUT JODHPUR CITY:
Jodhpur, one of the largest district of Rajasthan state is centrally situated in Western region of the
State, having geographical area of 22850 sq. Kms. The district stretches between 2600 and 27037 at
north Latitude and between 72 55 and 73 52 at East Longitude. This district is situated at the height
between 250-300 meters above sea level.The length of the district from North to South and from East
to West is 197 Km.& 208 Km. respectively.

CLIMATE OF THE CITY:

The district comes under Arid Zone of Rajasthan, 11.60% of total arid zone it covers.
General slope of the Terrain is Towards West.
Extreme of Heat in summer and cold in winter.
Temperature varies from 49 degree in summer to 1 degree in winter.
Rainy Days are limited . The average rainfall is 302 mm.

TOPOGRAPHY AND GEOGRAPHY OF SITE:

Malani Igneous Suite, an integral component of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, extends at the
periphery of the desert, to an area of 44,500 square kilometers (17,182 sq mi)
Thick series of sedimentary rocks comprising sandstone , limestone and shale's .

SITE PARAMETERS:
The Site comes under the Area of Jodhpur Development Authority (JDA), and the Byelaws of JDA will
be applicable for this site.
The Total Area of NIFT site is-50 BIGHAS= 19.48 Acres .=78668.22 Sq mt.
The Site is a Agriculture land of Karwar Village , and No mass development of surroundings is here.
But in adjacent of the site , around 400 Acres of site is alloted for IIT,JODHPUR campus, a Ayurvedic
university is also located 1km before from the site which is under construction , National Law
University ,Jodhpur (NLU) is also located on the same road ,thats why in future it will become a major
educational hub of this Area.

AIM :
To Design a Building which is climatically, technically , functionally , aesthetically suited and which will
get in the environment of modern architecture.

OBJECTIVES:
The Proposed Institute is to be a specialized institute for design, technology and business related to
Fashion.
NIFT is an Institution where students come from all over country , working together , in order to do
something different and creative in the world of Fashion.
To evolve an environment suitable to the particular needs of institute by studying the different processes
involved in Fashion Design and Technology.
To understand the surroundings, local topography, climate and to make a design concept accordingly.

OBJECTIVES OF NIFT:
NIFT was registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 in January 1986, The
specific objectives for which the society was established are- To establish and to carry on the
administration and management of the Institute of Fashion Technology, for the purpose of developing
technically competent human resources through a professional program of education, research service
and training in the Fashion field.
To provide technical assistance to the artisans, craftsmen, manufacturers, designers and exporters of
fashion products.
To meet the needs of the Indian fashion industry and commerce In respect of up to date information of
fashion technology through research and publication of with publication of literature with particular
reference to the programs of the fashion industry in the country.
