Task Analysis and Script: How to set up a Class Wiki


I decided to use the procedural task analysis. Many people complete tasks more successfully
when there are specific steps to follow. Procedural task analysis allows them to better ascertain
that they are performing the task correctly.

Open Chrome Browser


Click on the toolbar and type in www.wikispaces.com
Click on the blue button the left hand side that says, Education
Choose the bar that says, Teachers on the next page to sign up.
Create a username and password
Check your email for a confirmation letter from Wikispaces.
Click the link with the Confirm your email title above to be directed to your user

homepage.
8. You have two options. You can either click on the button in the upper right hand corner
that say, Create Wiki or you can click on the blue link below the title, Favorite Wikis
entitled, Create a new wiki now.
9. Choose your industry from the drop down bar on the next page.
10. Click the blue Continue button below.
11. Choose a Wiki name for your Wiki.
12. Type in the name of your school.
13. If your school is not listed, click on the blue link, Cant find your school?
14. Type in your schools information.
15. Fill out your course and grade level if you like. This is optional.
16. Submit your information.
17. You have created your first Wiki.
18. To create your first post, go to the Welcome to your classroom post.
19. Click on the small dropdown bar in the corner and choose edit.
20. Type your first post.
21. To invite students, click the button in the red bar that says, Members.
22. Click on the button that says, Invite people.
23. Add the email address of the students to the box using commas. There is also a bulk
upload option.
24. Youre set! Students can now see your Wiki. You can add projects, events and more to
your Wiki at a later date.

Today, Id like to show you how to create a
Wiki page. Begin by going to your web
browser. I will be using Chrome Browser.

Create username and password

Now that youre on the internet, type,


wikispaces.com into the toolbar to take
you to Wiki.
There are two options here: education and
everyone else. Click on Education.
Now, you are going to choose the option,
Teachers to get signed up.

Go ahead and choose a username and


password for your Wiki.
Check for confirmation letter
Check your inbox for your confirmation
letter. Sometimes, these may go to Spam, so
check that folder if you dont see the letter in
your inbox.
Click confirmation link
Here is the confirmation letter. All you want
to do is click on the embedded link to take
you back to Wikispaces.
Click, Create a Wiki button
Perfect! Now you can begin creating your
wiki. This is very simple. Just click on the
Create a Wiki button in the corner.

and type in the email addresses of your
students. Make sure to separate with
commas. You can also do this with bulk
upload.
Now you have successfully invited
students. You can return to the homepage of
your wiki by clicking on the name of your
wiki in the toolbar.
Explore the many options of Wikispaces
such as assigning projects to your students.
