Re: Completion of Spring 2016 Semester and Commencement
‘As we all are aware, the budget stalemate in Springtield continues tobe a major concern fr the Chicago State
University community. | am vrting this memorandum to communicate the latest meacures that the university
must take in order to fulfill our commitment to complete the spring semester, al students who are registered
and successtully completing their classes will be awarded academic credit, and all students who have.
succesfully completed the requlcements fr thele cespective degrees will be awarded those degrees, In order
to remain true to our commitment, we have been pushed to the point of having to make significant
adjustments to our academic calendar, per the outline below, Please be assured thatthe university is dong al
it canto minimize disruption and anuety. We remaln optimistic that Chicago State University’s future i righ,
inspite tothe setbacks thet we now must endure due to the budget challenge
1) Classes will meet during the week of Spring Recess, March 14-19, 2016, Faculty and staff should
work to accommodate particular student needs, specifically for student-athletes who are
committed to tournaments
Spring 2016 Commencement will take place on Thursday, April 28, 2016, Undergraduate
faraduation applications will be due no later than March 18, 2026. The graduate applications were
‘due on February 12, 2016, The Commencement website will be updated with new dates for
regalia orders, the Honars Canuoratinn, Commencement Countdown, and other gradvation-
related activites.
3) Final examinations wil occur during the week of April 23-30, 2016. The deadline for grades
remains the same. & revised final examination schedule wil be published this week by the Office
ofthe Registrar.
4) Faculty Is requested to provide a written addendum to their syllabi to document the changes
indicated by this memorandum with respect to their courses. A template willbe provided vla your
chairpersons or program directors.

These changes are ocurrng to fulfil the university's commitment to students regarding the completion of the
semester. Further information will be rovided tothe campus community early next month onthe summer
and falterms. Al students are strongly encouraged to plan to register in advance.
