Dear Family, Friends, and Associates of Our Women and Men in Consecrated Life:
Greetings of peace to you this holy season of Lent.
As you know, we, the Archdiocese of Agaa, are celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of
our local church as a Diocese in October 14, 1965. Within the commemoration of our Golden Jubilee of
the Diocese, the Church, through our Holy Father Pope Francis, has also given us the beautiful Jubilee
Year of Mercy and the Year of Consecrated Life to observe and celebrate.
This letter will primarily address our celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life.
The religious sisters, priests and brothers have always played an important role in the Church. They have
had a significant role of bringing the presence of God in the lives of those for whom they serve. Their
vocation as a religious or consecrated woman or man is a gift from God, continually inspired and guided
by the Holy Spirit in service to God and his People. Because of their commitment to the Consecrated Life
and their call to continue to reflect and be the light of Christ to others, the organizing committee wants
to express gratitude and celebrate Gods gift of their vocation as a religious.
The religious communities serving in our island presently are:
Society of Jesus (first began in 1668)
Capuchin Friars (1901)
Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (1946)
School Sisters of Notre Dame (1949)
Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (1955)

Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz (1962)

Order of Discalced Carmelites (1966)
Religious Missionaries of Saint Dominic (1979)
Sisters for a Christian Community (1980)

As part of the celebration and thanksgiving of our consecrated religious women and men ministering in
the Archdiocese of Agaa, the organizing committee is sponsoring a three-day weekend reflection on
Consecrated Life, Its Core Values and Meaning for a Global World with Sister Maria Clara Kreis, CDP,
PhD, from the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence (CDP). She is a Licensed Psychologist
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania currently serving at Duquesne University. This three day weekend
reflection will be held on May 13 - 15, 2016 at Pacific Star Resort & Spa.
In the weeks to come, the committee hopes to feature all of our women and men in consecrated life in
the Umatuna Catholic Newspaper.
The Archdiocesan celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the
Dulce de Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica at 6:30PM.

In light of these, we are writing to most humbly request your financial support to become a sponsor for
